snow ****in'

We are alive! Most around me lost power but we have it. Dh went out twice last night and we are finally done. We have at least 3 feet of snow here. More coming Thursday so we are making sure we move the snow far enough away to put the next round.

I think rain tues? Which is scaring me with this flat roof with a huge wad of snow. Trying to melt it off by cranking the heat sky high. [Have crappy insulation up there]

OMG, not more Thursday :faint:

Be careful digging out guys. Joan don't you have neighbors with a snow blower?
When we get a lot of snow DH, DS and our neighbor all get out blowers and neighbor has a plow and I shovel and we take care of the neighborhood. One neighbor lady gave DS13 $10..........he tried to refuse but she insisted and said to give it to his mother then for the gas lol. I went and talked to her and told her that we're teaching him to be a good neighbor without expecting anything in return so next time don't pay him. She was very grateful. :)

I do and thankfully she & some of the guys down the block did help a lot. I just don't want to assume she'll help and come to expect it. I go out and do as much as I can and then come in and take a break. Seeing them out there clearing the rest was such a welcome site!

This was the first time in a long time I've seen so many neighbors helping so many other neighbors on the block. My next door neighbor (and her late husband in past storms) were always generous helping us and her other neighbor. But this time there were young kids and their dads out there helping out at lots of houses. The neighbor to the other side of me is 80something and his house is also on a hill. The neighbor to the right of him snowblowed his driveway today.

Definite warm & fuzzies going on here today. :flowers:

Aww Joan that's great! I love when people come together and help each other out.
When I was out shoveling the other day, a neighbor (single 40+ guy) came home and couldn't get into his driveway. He left his car in the road and we all went over and dug out his driveway so he could get in. He hires a service to do his snow, but they hadn't come yet.
 
YAY! Mom's power just came back on.

Glad they aren't still in the 79% without power in town there. I think more than 250,000 are still in the dark statewide.

Amazing what the $50 million in fines per power company from last year's storm outages will do to motivate them them to bring in an army of power crews to help. :giggle1:
 
LMAO, you don't know how much bro was relieved. Sis is a major PITA to deal with, our mom is a saint to put up with her craziness.

Still concerned about my aunt, she still no power. But she does have a gas fireplace for heat. If the condo crew will dig her out she may drive the 1.5 miles and stay with mom & sis, lots of empty bedrooms there. Mom would go get her, but mom still has a flat tire.

We'll be dealing with AAA tomorrow I think. I want the condo guys to shovel off mom's car, this snow is heavy. She's an old lady with minor heart problems.
 
I am so **** pooped. I can't imagine how knocked out I'd be if I had to do the whole **** thing myself.

I think I'll head out to church this evening. The streets are clear and it's sunny out so stuff is melting. I put some salt on the driveway because it's supposed to get pretty cold tonight so there will be lots of black ice.

Kerri I'm afraid to ask but give us an idea of how bad next Thursday's storm will be when you have a chance. Should I start planning another vacation day? :surrender:
 
Shoveled off the 2 front steps and down around 1 side of the snow blower.

OMG, standing on the ground next to the tarped blower, the snow is between hip high in some spots more than waist deep in others :faint:
 
I can't remember where Ton lives but it's out east somewhere....anyone know?
 
I'm done for the night too **** cold out there [with the windchill it feels like 9º] now & the sun has set. Dug out around the snow blower, will attempt to break through and remove the cement wall the street plow left at the end of my driveway tomorrow.

Should freeze solid, it'll be down to 7º with a windchill of -5º overnight.
 
Joan, I will update as soon as I know more. I am way too tired to even look at models today. lol The wind is picking up again now and it is wicked. We are not leaving for the rest of the night!!
