snow ****in'

Another foot fell since I last shoveled off the top step about 4 hours ago. From the little I can see in dark, there are drifts well over 3ft, sure it'll look & be worse by the time the sun comes up. Still windy as hell. The wind whipped my screen door open while I was shoveling for that minute & the force screwed it somehow, now I can't get it closed. :gah:

Shudder to think about the heavy snow pile on the roof.

ETA: Hope mom, sis, & my elderly aunt are ok down the Cape. Looks like 71% of customers down there in Yarmouth are without power ATM. No power restoration will even begin until after the storm ends & the winds die down so the crews can safely work in those bucket trucks.

More concern for mom, sis & my aunt [she lives a mile from where mom & sis are]. That town is now up to 84 percent without power, other parts of the cape are even worse.

Back to grab another couple of hours sleep before shoveling again, I hope.

Praying that you all will be safe and sending good thoughts your way!
:shesaid:

I'm going to try to sleep on the couch, not much else to do now but worry, so sleep is good. Tomorrow is going to be a very long day.

Good luck Joan & Kerri, & ennui, please stay safe.[/QUOTE] :shesaid:

Hope everyone is safe and warm :)

SON OF A ****!

There's so **** much snow out there. No idea when I'll get all dug out. They have the streets totally clear, which means there's a fort of snow at the foot of every driveway. :surrender:

Power hasn't gone out but the winds are fairly strong right now. **** of it will be going out there and shoveling and then the freaking wind will blow lots of it back again.

Weatherstupididiots had the nerve of mentioning a possible storm on Wednesday. (Yes I know Kerri also mentioned this but to talk about it during the height of the storm - really>>)

All I can say is

Holy ****fuck!!!!!!!!!!

Over 3ft out there, massively high drifts. Need coffee & to wake up before even picking up a shovel for the front steps. Grateful that Dad & I still have power at this point. It is still snowing and extremely windy.

Haven't tried call mom & sis yet, don't want to wake them if they are still sleeping. Yarmouth is more than 92 percent blacked out. Hope to hell they are warm. The 2nd floor there is heated by oil, but the 1st by gas, I think.

Made the mistake of opening the front door to get a better look outside. Had a hell of a time closing it. A mini-wall of snow fell inside immediately & into the hinge area, had to sweep it out just to close the door. :gah:

Glad a few trees straightened themselves out. Almost the same view as last night:

What you can't see are the massive drifts, some look 4ft maybe. Will take me days to clear out this mess. This blower doesn't do super deep snow, easily, only has a 21" intake height.

To give an idea of how much crap fell & is still falling, this is the top of one trash barrel:

Mom just called, they have no electricity & no heat. ATM they still have hot water.

According to tv weatherguy Hyannis got 19" on the Cape and the temp with windchill is around 7 degrees.

I spent about 45 minutes out there and made a bit of a dent but there's still so much more to do. :surrender:

This was the view from my window this morning.

Surprisingly the snow on the top is light so that wasn't too bad. It was the boulders by the driveway that are miserable. I figure maybe two more rounds and I can actually make it out of here sometime tomorrow.

Definitely taking it slow out there. It's much colder and windier than it was yesterday so that makes it even worse.

:bliss: :bliss: I love the people on my street! I can now leave the property anytime I'd like! Not that I'm planning to - I've got lots of blizzard junk food to eat. :giggles:

My neighbor was out there snowblowing her driveway & her snowblower started having problems. Two guys from down the street came over and helped her fix it and also helped her finish her driveway, my driveway and are now working on the house on the other side of her. They even did a bit of shoveling near my car! :cartwheel:

I just got back in from shoveling off my car - using the little brush thingie would have just been silly. I don't think I'll be parking at the top of the driveway until Spring but I'm ok with that.

Good neighbors are the best!

Sunny break ATM, but I'm staying put, maybe I'll do the front step...Too darn cold & windy, plus another band is of snow still to come from the west. Tomorrow will be much warmer.

This is the view out a back window. There's a stream out there somewhere under the snow.

Out the kitchen window towards one garden [Yeah, I'm a slug, left some tools outside behind the compost tumbler :hides:]:

:faint: That's just too much snow. Texted my dad. He has 28" in Webster, MA.
Is he out near Chaubunagungamaug?

My bro is digging out and after the travel ban is lifted in a few hours will try to drive down the Cape to pick up mom, sis, and I hope, our 88 yr old aunt. Bring them all back to his place where he has heat, power, lots of room, beds & 2 docs.

Now I just have to convince those stubborn 3 women they MUST go with him, the Cape could be without power for a week.
