What's new

snow ****in'

Heard the lines were long at liquor stores here last night.

I'm taking a lil break mid last minute preparations.

Already re-raked the driveway to remove any fallen branches from the last windy storm.

Moved anything that could go flying in the hurricane force winds as well as anything that might disappear under a 5ft drift and be invisible while snow blowing.

Brought in all the paper goods [plates, towels & TP] we bought last night.

Moved the car down towards the end of the driveway, but further in from the street than run of the mill storms to protect the front end if the street plow pushes a mountain of snow across my driveway.

Still have to fill the blower's tank and bring it up to my front walk.

Then rig up a drawstring kind of thing to tie a tarp down around it after it cools.

Take out the trash.

Bring in a snow shovel.

Start cooking: chicken, lentils, brown rice, hard cooked eggs, potatoes.

Round up the flashlights, batteries, battery operated lanterns, portable radio, etc.

More laundry.

Then take a nice nap.

I could get it all done faster if the phone would stop ringing :gah:

Crap, I'm feeling like a slacker after that list ennui. :giggles:

**** Nemo. :tap:

Apparently we've got an over-achiever on the block. Someone is snowblowing down the street. We've got maybe 2" out there right now. I understand with snowblowers it's best to do it in stages, but this is just silly.

The weatherguy just said I was in the 3-6 inches per hour zone for later tonight :faint: Didn't see the screen so not sure if it extends down over to Kerri.

Snow blower is sitting outside 3 ft from the front door and under a tied down tarp. If it gets stolen, way down here in the woods, away from the street, I'll be very, very ticked off. Filled its tank and have about another 1.75 gal of gas tucked under a chair nearby. Hope I won't need more, will blow out just a walkway to street & the car first, before doing the entire driveway.

Still need to take out the trash, do more laundry, & cook. I really want a nap but can't get much done because EVERYONE is home and wanting to talk. :gah:

This is what's going to happen in 2 hours:

A couple of pictures looking out my window about an hour ago. It's gotten quite a bit deeper since then.

I parked pretty low on the driveway so getting out sometime this weekend may be slightly possible.

And Sophie's thoughts on the snow. (So far she's crapped once in the house. I'm guessing that's gonna happen a few more times this weekend but she did manage to pee outside just a little while ago.)

Kinda hard to see, but she's sticking her tongue out.

Well it's official. Jim Cantore is officially reporting from Boston. SO you all are screwed.:giggles:

On a positive note... the weather channel has their entire programming cancelled and it just states "Winter Storm Nemo" when you look it up on Direct TV's guide. The positive note is that the program ends on Saturday at 10 PM. So obviously it will be all over by then. :snort:

But seriously, prayers for all of you East Coasters. At least the states seem to be pretty proactive.

Shoveling sucks! :surrender: I was out there for about an hour. I'd say we have about 8" by now. I cleared the steps and the driveway behind and around my car. The worst part is the **** boulders at the foot of the driveway. Heavy as hell.

Screw Nemo.

My neighbor just sent me this - cracked me up.

NY STATE BIRD:
THE BLUE BIRD OF HAPPINESS

Blue Bird of Happiness, my feathered ****!!!
Do I look happy?
It's friggin' freezing.
There's snow up to my beak, all the food's covered with
this white crap and you want ME to sing?
Next year I'm flyin' to Barbados and sippin' drinks
with those little umbrellas!!!!!!!

The snow is so heavy I couldn't easy walk to my driveway if I wanted to, every tree branch is hanging down, practically to the ground. Just hopped into a hot shower in case it's the last one for days.

Also taking a chance by doing another load of laundry of some very heavy sweats & socks, hope it finishes before I lose power. I like freshly laundered clothing, they hadn't been washed since last winter.

Be safe up there,........in the mean time.......

Another bloom today
Spring is just around the corner!
