My dog was found after being missing for over 5 years...but theres a twist!

I would ask them to contact the family and let them know the whole story (if they hadn't) and your intent is simply to see your dog, not take him from the family. I think that was rather rude of the clinic to tell you "wait til monday" till we figure this out and here they took care of it beforehand without letting you know.

so sorry! keep us posted!!

Am I the only one furious??????

I would be absolutely f'ing LIVID.

Why? They've been caring for him for the past 3 years and he's in his golden years now.............I wouldn't want to take him out of his current home now. Or do you mean about not being about to at least visit?

And it's not like they took him, they rescued him.

Says who?

Who says they didn't "find" him right out of their backyard. It isn't uncommon where I lived for that to happen. Especially labs.

Then no visit? No visual looksee? Nothing? Like they are untrustable?

I will let everyone know now, god forbid one of my animals get out and someone thinks in 1 day all the way to 10 years they are keeping them, I don't care because they "AINT."

Yup, AINT. lol.

Where was the dog the first 2 years?

So I can go and take someone's dog and keep it on the low down for a year or two and then it's mine no matter what? Tell that to people that spend $2-3k on a dog and have it taken.

Says who?

Well they said they got him from a shelter so I'm sure there's documention on that.

I'm just really pissed. Don't mind me.

:huggy:

What if Jilly ran away and went to live in a mansion with servants.........then you found her, but she didn't wanna come back home?

They say a lot of things. Don't mean it's true until I see documentation.

Jilly is the first to flatleave me for anyone that will dote on her. Why do you think I moved to PA? Less threats. ;)

When Ozzie came to our house and adopted us, he had a broken tail. We took him to the vet, had him fixed up and paid the bill.......then the vet told us that he had a chip and could not release him to us!!! We would need to have the previous owner sign him and the chip over to us. I told the vet to give me the name of the owner and where they lived.
The **** was a renter across the street that moved and left him. I contacted her old landlord and found out where she moved to. 2 BLOCKS AWAY!!!
Got her phone # and where she worked and tracked her down....Took her to the vet to sign him over to us.

Now Ozzie is ours!!!:cartwheel:

Ozzie is very lucky he found such nice people the second time!!!!
What kind of flipping morons do this to poor defenseless animals???????

Me and my SIL had a similar story happen to us. As we were driving down a block a dog was running loose and we got him and got him into the truck. The dog was in baaaad shape. Fleas, ticks, matted hair and his ears were burning red from infection and limping.

We bring him to our regular vet as an emergency. We told the vet we just found him bla bla bla. The vet was such a prick to us. Talking down to us like we were going to "steal" his services. Jerkoff, we bring all our animals to you and just because we said we found him, doesn't mean we are just dropping him off, we WANT him and we want to help him. F' the bill, we understand we are paying for him and it will be extensive and will pay when we pick him up. ****.

So he said he'd clean him up and he's in really bad shape yadda yadda. Later on down the road after of course we sign that we will pay for him, vet assistant calls and tells us he has a chip and the owners will be picking him up, he just got out of their yard. So we ask if they are going to press animal abuse charges on them for not taking care of their dog and letting him be in that condition. Nope and it's none of our business anymore.

We never went to that vet again. But glad the wonderful owners got to pay for upkeep of their dog.

When we called the animal control first thing yesterday morning to speak with the supervisor about the situation they told us that Blackie had already been picked up by the other family. They had him registered and shots up to date for the past 3 years in McHenry county so Blackie is their dog. We were told he is physically in good condition and healthy for his age but he may have some neurological issues. She mentioned that he stares into space sometimes. (Maybe becuase he wonders where his original owners are!) He is around 13 yrs old now.

We were upset that they did not even give us the chance to see him. We asked if they could contact the owners and see if we could see him or if they could e-mail a recent photo. We are going to follow up.

Animal control said they checked with the District attorney's office before giving him to the other family to make sure that according to McHenry county law the dog belongs to the new owners and could not give out any more information and we would have to seek legal action if we wanted to try get Blackie back.

Kind of sad that we did not get to see him.

I am still trying to check what our rights are if we have any. Checking witht he microchip company if this happens often... etc.

We are still very happy to know he is alive and has a family that loves him!

**** I'm pissed and upset for you...all you wanted to do was go to animal control and see him. It was not like you were going to rip the dog away from animal control and run out the door with him....You just wanted to see him....oooooo, that was so ****ty of Animal Control to do that to you. I would not even trust Animal Control to be telling the truth to you right now. They don't care about these animals...Animal Conrol is not in the business of saving dogs/cats....they are in the business of controling strays that are in the hood/dangerous to people and what not.

Don't get me started on vets....I had to train mine to my way of thinking. Everything...I mean everything I do for my pets is in thier best interrest. I don't give a rats **** about what the city says I must do...the trouble I may get into...don't give a flying ****. I bring my pets in for an checkup every year with full blown blood work....they get my money....but don't tell me I have to get a rabies vac for my geriatric dog....**** You...it aint gonna happen! I vaccinate my dogs up to seven years of age and that is it. That is the way it is going to be forever and ever...until they show me that my dog does not have the antibodies and could get rabies.....

I had to bring Sherbert in for a rabies shot for paperwork that I had to submit, not that I wanted to at all.

He turned into a vicious insane cat and the second vet (first wouldn't even treat him) had to come out with those big **** gloves you use for either holding molten glass or training hawks and eagles to hold him to give him a shot.

I don't agree with any vaccines other than the normal ones in the beginning. But I had no choice because I needed documentation that he had his rabies shot.
