For my Kindergartner, they are asking for 36 glue sticks. Not weird, but curious what they do with so many.... and they asked specifically requested for Elmers only. (Glad walmart had them for 0.10)

WOW! That is alot of glue. I have a feeling you are going to need alot of room on your frig for artwork. :giggles:

Maybe Elmers tastes better! :giggles:

:lol::lol: My dh was reading the glue bottle today to one of the kids saying, "Nontoxic - and that doesn't mean you're supposed to eat it!":lol::lol:

That sounds like maybe one a week. My kids have always gone thru those glue sticks fast.

Do your schools request other supplies? On top of notebooks, markers etc we have to buy kleenex, paper towels, clorex wipes, 2 packs baby wipes, pack of all purpose copy/printer paper, hand sanitzer.

Another odd thing I noticed on the lists are the schools that say ziploc bags for example. Boys bring in gallon and girls bring in sandwich or the pick one of, paper towel, tissue, or ziploc. So if all the kids bring in pt the teacher will need to ask for the other items later in the year.

On my niece list is 3 subject notebooks. I have seen 2 and 5 but don't think I have seen the 3 subject ones./ Do they make 3 subject one's. I just bought the 5 subject ones.

My kids bring the supplies to school that day before school starts. The first time I went to "Meet the Teacher/Bring Your Supplies" hour...I found that most of the supples went into great big tubs. So imagine, if you will, 30+ kids in a class x the large quantities of pencils, glue sticks, stacks of kleenex boxes... there was NO WAY I was leaving all the stuff I brought!-LOL!

DD is starting K and they are asking for 2 gallon ziplock bags. Boys bring 1 box/1GL and girls 1 box/2GL. I checked target and didn't find them

Why not? :gah:

B/C there was nooooo waaaayyy those huge quantities of supplies were ever going to be used during one school year. It turned out that 'leftover' supplies were being either sent home at the end of the year or donated to under resourced schools. Ummm...right. Actually, this year's list has been pared way down due to parent complaints. I have no problem sending more supplies as needed, but I do have a problem with blatent waste.

2 bars of soap..I thought that was a little wierd

I hate when they ask for 12 folders all having to be specific colors as well as 12 spirals and my ds comes home with 10 folders and 10 spirals..wth
At the end of the year I just packed everything up and it made school supply shopping so much easier :)

I bought them on clearance years ago. Maybe 3-4 years. I think they might have been 2, but definately over 1 GL. Just send two boxes of the 1 GL... So what if there is a class of 20 and 12 are boys and 8 are girls? That is what I think is odd. My nephew was in a small class for preschool and I think maybe only 4 girls our of 16. What they should do is after the school year starts divide the alphabet and make it easier.

Probably going to do soap carving - like a little art type project based on something they study.

I have had my son's class run out of kleenex and ask for more! I usually send in another box in January.

When they say don't label the supply, that's an indicator that it will be shared and then I buy the cheapest thing there is! If they don't tell me to put a name on the folder, I don't buy the plastic ones, I buy the 10 cent ones.
