Well she didn't seem too thrilled with it.

Little passive aggressive ****.

"That's my cake?..............................long pause...............................Oh."

I swear, if I get more wrinkles from having this smile plastered on my face, I am NOT going to be happy. :gah:

Wine Monday! WOOT!

It's been 10 years since the horrific Station nightclub fire in RI.

Now it happens all over again, this time in Brazil. Virtually the same circumstances...

Fireworks do not belong indoors.

Why weren't there enough emergency exits?

Why were twice the capacity of patrons allowed in?

Why the flammable soundproofing?

Nothing was learned from the RI fire.

I swear I can still smell that horrific smell, burnt flesh. :(

dragonfly she prolly never had a special cake like that and didn't know what to think. She'll come around. :huggy:

Had to get the furnace fixed today. Has been making strange noises off and on for the last couple weeks. It turned out to be the motor. Cost was $225. Didn't seem bad to me. Guy that did it is going to give us an estimate for a new one. This one is 25 years old but he said was still in good shape. Said he would give me the new motor as a credit if I did get the new furnace within a couple months.

On a better note I found out today that my mortgage was PAID IN FULL! :cartwheel: This is a couple months earlier than I thought it would be. Sad thing is I mailed a payment in yesterday. oh well just have to wait for them to return that check and they owe me some escrow money too. Now just have to wait and see what hubby will want to spend this $ on since of course we have extra now.:gah:

Congrats! How exciting to have a paid off house! Having extra money is never a bad thing. Throw yourself a party, travel, invest or buy a few new things with the extra money.

Dragonfly, that cake is beautiful! My ds's 11th birthday was Thursday. I let him and his brother decorate the cake. Well, he started and then his brother took over when he saw the mess.

Is my computer broken or did no one really have anything to say alllllll day? :faint:

So, I took new DD8 to her new pediatrician today. Aside from being there for 2 hours & 45 minutes (which is not our record as far as free dr's visits go....) I absolutely LOVED this doctor. She was *great* and if the wait wasn't so long & if the area wasn't so sketchy, I would totally recommend her to people. She listened to me and my concerns, she was incredibly patient with DD, she gave her a full exam... she spent every bit of 30 minutes with us in the room and then another 10 in the hallway with me getting "the scoop" on DD.

The appointment was twofold: 1) establish a new ped in our area & 2) ADHD screening.

I swear I couldn't have paid DD to act whackier than she acted. I kept trying to settle her down & then I realized, "**** it! This is why we are here!" :snort:

I filled out the questionnaire and have copies for her teacher. DD8 was so completely off the flippin' wall, the doctor wrote on her referral under current problems "ADHD," so obviously after 30 minutes she is somewhat convinced. Perhaps the following behaviors influenced her:
-DD8 interrupted every. single. question. the dr asked me
-DD8 almost fell off the table
-At one point DD8 began laughing manically for no apparent reason, only to find out she was thinking about her birthday cake :dunce:
-And then the singing began
-And what I think *really* sealed the deal: DD8 was told 3x how to BREATHE (yes, she even manages to mess up breathing :gah: ) and then the 4th time the doctor had to show her HOW to inhale without making noises that sound like she has pneumonia. @@ Part 5 was learning how to exhale without sounding like she was expelling a demon.

I cannot tell you how relieving it is not to have someone look at you like you are whacky on the junk. DD8's current therapist just nods & says, "Welllllllll.....PTSD....PTSD....trauma...." and I am like, "Yes, BUT XYZ! XYZ! What should I DO? How should I react?!!!"

Talked to new therapist today. I am seeing her on Monday & DD8 starts on Wednesday. WOOT! I will say that today was the BEST day since they moved in because it actually feels like forward progress. We will ignore that the boy stole a hot lunch today. Again. One thing at a time.
