Saw grocery carts w/ TV's in them today

When I lived in Plainfield about 5 years ago they built a new Walmart and they had them. It was the best invention ever! I could shop for a good 25-30 minutes without hearing a word from the kids! But you're right, they are for smaller kids. We found one a few months ago and my 5yo tried to convince me that he fit (as his face was eating the windshield!).:lol:

I just figured out that the ones at the Dom's in CL are free!! I'm apparently a little slow to catch on. The kids always ask for one and I always say no because I don't want to pay. Now I know and will definitely be using them. I find them most helpful at checkout when I'm doing 2-4 orders at self check. My 3 year old isn't as eager to "help" me if she has a show to watch.

Bring some Lysol to disinfect those things and a tinfoil cap for the child--I bet those TV's stream subliminal advertisements into children's heads...then again so does Dora and I let DS watch her evil minions.

My first thought...."wow, that is sooo cool!"

My second thought.."one more way to "spoil" and overindulge a generation that is not learning how to wait for anything without being entertained."

Yeah, that's kind of what I though. But I wasn't going to say it lest I make myself a target again.

As much as I hate to sit my kids in front of a tv, I'd totally use these. They don't get to watch much tv so this would be a treat for them and me. Right now I have to get a bag of popcorn to make it through Target and that trick doesn't seem like it will last much longer.

Moose is 3 and the Target $1.50 combo still works for him. Popcorn and lemonade! :)

Dont feel bad I just noticed this 2 weeks ago. I always said no because I didnt want to pay but 2 weeks ago I looked a little closer and I was pleasantly surprised!

If I spent a 'normal' amount of time in grocery stores it wouldn't be that big a deal for me to say yeah the kids should be patient, but with the amount I'm there and the amount my youngest can talk if she is BORED I really wish she could fit in that cart (and that there were carts like that closer to my home)

I still sometimes put my lil ADHD 8 year old in the big part of the cart with his DS because he drives me crazy to shop with! :surrender:

Thank you! :hiya:

It's like the turn-on-the-DVD-before-the-minivan-door-is-even-closed mentality. When did kids need to watch a DVD - or anything - when they were being driven 2 blocks to wherever?

I found it SCARY that a broad next to me in the parking lot at Jewel was watching a music video of some sort where I have a radio.

WHO NEEDS A TV IN THE CAR WHERE THERE USED TO BE RADIOS?? Screw cell phone laws - the eyes aren't there either!

:ranting:

Rant off. TV carts...cool, but really? REALLY? Maybe if the 4-year olds are fighting over the DS again and the 3-year olds' cell phone is out of range. :gah:

Yeah mines 9 with ADHD, but too big to be in the cart.

We don't have the DVD player in the car, unless the trip is over 4 hours, then we might hook up a laptop for them. Typically they read or do mad libs in the car.

And my kids are only allowed limited TV / Computer/ DS time each day, typically maxed at 2 hours total.

And they don't bring the DS to social situations, it's for at home and in the car. There is a family at our old Church with teenagers that play their DS through every Church service - drives me NUTZ!

:huggy: Didn't think anyone did that anymore!

There is one mom at school who drives me bonkers. Great lady, but c'mon - do you really need to power up the DVD to drive the kids home the couple of blocks you live (while everyone is walking the distance, measurable in yards?) :gah:

I can see the DVD players for long trips, as you mentioned. It's just those little excursions to the store and whatnot that I just don't understand.
