I just came back from seeing Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
I'm not going to give away any plots, but it was definitely a fun movie to watch. I liked both the first one and this one. You do have to see the first to understand a few things from the second, but overall, I think I liked the second one better. The special effects were good and it still had it's comic book quality. Even a little comedic walk-on role from Stan Lee.
I also saw Transformers this last week. That was also a very good movie. I have never really seen the Transformers cartoon nor really was into the toys. Though my nephews adore them. I like that the movie was not based on some sexual relationship somewhere and the movie focused more on the special effects and the war between the robots. The four good robots were a little goofy, but that's how they are in the cartoons and they were made to seem very kid/people friendly so they had to appear funny and hero-like. There were some sweet moments in the movie too between the robots and the humans. One thing I'd definitely warn about, don't let your kid see the movie. They really made the bad robots scary and if your kid is too young, he or she will be afraid. The effects are too real and they will most likely have nightmares from it. It would be better to rent the cartoon Transformers movie to keep them distracted from the current computer-generated, big-screen movie.
