Icoupon2?

was it blood pressure monitors that everyone got for free a while ago? I know I didn't but there was something that was free--if anyone has one--can they send it to her so she can at least monitor it herself---I am worried for her----BP is nothing to take for granted--and if there is a way to keep it under check-
Prayers for you!!!!

I have gotten the idea that she is not wanting to be able to closely monitor her BP on a regular basis.

My DH sees the PCP once a year ($86, last year we had to pay for the appointment) to have his BP meds renewed (2 meds, $21 and $24 respectively cash price at Meijer per month, not including any Rx coupon shenanigans).

I will have to say I am shocked that it appears she works for a company that buys and sells pharmacies, yet they don't provide any insurance for their employees.

Maybe nothing should surprise me these days.

:dunce:
She has a monitor. That is how she knows what her BP is.

The company she works for is a small company (very few employees), and due to her pre-existing conditions she has a hard time getting any health insurance.

I take it 3 x a day doctor's orders :) That's how I know what it is, although there are days I think I wish I wasn't monitoring it. Ignorance is bliss :) although I can feel it in my head and know when its high.

I am technically the only full time employee. My assistant is part time (and 70+ - not in need of insurance). Everyone else is an independent contractor. I do get a monthly stipend in lieu of insurance. However, because of my health I'm currently uninsurable. I just have to live to see 2014 with the big bad Obamacare forces the insurance companies to provide coverage for pre-existing conditions. :)

The high blood pressure is a concern because I have low blood pressure. Really low...so normal is "high" for me...but now that I'm starting to get into triple digits over triple digits with a resting heart rate north of 100 that's cause for concern. It is not that high every day. But still...

no :hides: only in times of crisis. I know there is cardiac stuffs going on, but being uninsured there is only so much I can do until the going gets very bad. So I'm trying to just take care of myself. I know myself and I know that something is on the horizon. I'm so exhausted, not just work and stress...just an overwhelming exhaustion. So, we'll see. May go for a check up soon and just see. Thanks everyone

I know you may not believe/listen to any suggestions from me but being uninsured myself so do want to be helpful, it sucks. Basic BP meds are VERY CHEAP. I'm on an ace inihibitor/diuretic = lisinopril/HTCZ that comes in a combined pill for $10 90 day supply from target/walmart/Jewel match and possibly tie into a giftcard deal. If you have seen a doctor in the last year or two call in and see if they can do a prescription without coming in. They can if needed add a beta blocker or calcium channel blocker there are generics of both that are on the $4 30 day/$10 90 day target/walmart lists.

BP monitors are pretty reasonable given you will use them for a long time. But many Jewels and other places have automated free machines though ask the pharmacist if they are calibrated often.

Although going from low upwards may be something, you saw triple over triple, normal the 1st number is a lowish triple/bottom triple not wonderful/good but I'll admit I've seen it :(. Here's a chart:

I'm sure you have checked but for most classes of BP meds there are $4/30 day generics on target/walmart lists including ACE inihibitors/diuretics/calcium channel blockers/beta blockers, not sure if angiotensin II blockers or Alpha blockers are on the lists but think they are generic.

How are you feeling Icoupon2?

I'm hanging in there. Yesterday wasn't a good day, but I'm feeling better today.
