It's all (or mostly) about consistency, fuzzy. If your frosting is too thick, it won't come outta the tip all nice and smooth and flowing-ish..... If it's too thin, the letters will spread out
It's definitely one of those things you get the "feel" for after practice, practice, practice. You may have seen tutorials about a 15 second rule for frosting consistency..... I don't do that... I just mix it up and let it fall off the spoon..... MOST of the time I get it right .... sometimes I gotta add more water or more powdered sugar....
That's exactly what I use fuzzy..... the Wilton royal icing recipe ..... with a few drops of vanilla or almond extract and a bit of corn syrup added.
I tried another fancy schmancy royal icing recipe, but it just wouldn't dry..... kept trying to tweak it, figure out what the heck.... finally gave up and went back to Wilton :9:

Tagline nomination for gremlin. we always joke about her "smokes" so i thought this was hysterical when taken out of context.
I'm sure that the corn syrup makes the icing easier to work with. I should have started days ago but this shortened week didn't offer me too many extra hours.

I wondered how long it would take you to catch on . Got'um ordered and she musta worked OT to get them here,(wasn't finished oops) Mary, sends me a pm on Thurs says she sent them Weds and they would be here on Fri. I sent her a pm back says na'ah not Fri. for sure. Cuz there was a box on my door step when I got home on Thursday. But then I had to wait for BD girl to get off work. There it was the "BOX" just a staring at me for hours. She was so surprised and delighted especially the Mickey ones. Mickey is Her fave person. :bow: But I think the bubble wrap and shipping stuff cost more tahn the cookies. Worth every signle penny. Already working on next years order hint hint
