The idea behind playing a sport is to stay in shape. Competitive eating contradicts that idea completely.
I've yet to have that "tequila experience" that makes everyone shy away from tequila. Yet to get sick from it, I'm sure it'll happen some day though. This morning I actually woke up and felt great.![]()
You do have to be in pretty good shape to do competitive eating though, right? At the very least, your metabolism rate has to be pretty extreme to endure those types of competitions over the course of many matches. What's the name of the Japanese guy who seemingly wins every hot-dog-eating contest? He's not exactly fat. He looks like someone who goes to the gym a lot.
I don't think competitive eating should be considered as a sport for two cases. One: there is no physical activity involved in eating. Two: there is no unique skill or training involved either. How do you prepare for a competitive eating competition? I don't know of anyways to eat more than my body can handle; if you know of some, please inform me.
