Boys, and Peeing on the Floor

Squirrel!

They totally get distracted... Billy will be standing there peeing and a song will come on and he will start shaking his naked little butt.

I generally tell him to get it right or I will punch him in the face... This is our playful phrase we use with basically anything.

 oh and FWIW my 46 yr. old DH also still MISSES the toilet...he just pees all over the seat and down the side of it! Guess his mom didn't know about cheerios either! YUCK! :(

Right? OMG! They have an appendage with which to aim and still cannot hit the gigantic opening? For heavens sake.....I used squatty potties throughout China and never peed all over. Geesh! I am buying DH some Cheerios!

So how exactly do you "teach" a boy to pee standing up.

Lex learnt how to pee sitting down and that's always been fine, but I know that he should learn how to pee standing up. The first couple of tries have been a disaster. Either he ends up peeing on his pants as he's trying to get everything organized (cause he's waited too long) or he pees not where he is supposed to as he's using his hands to keep his pants/underwear from falling down.

And of course I'm not helpful as I'm trying not to bust a gut as I'm watching this all play out. So if he's using his hand to aim, how does he keep his pants from falling down?

My husband does this... I just throw out the nasty underwear :giggles:

That's what DH usually does, which is why it was so funny. I bought my son boxer briefs for the first time, they were brand new so I think that's why my husband tried to clean them in the toilet. His first time doing it, and he flushes them.

Let him have his pants drop to his ankles.....that's what my DS3 does. I figure he'll learn the 'keep pants on' thing when he gets a little older and has more coordination

I always tell my little boy to aim for the hole in the toilet and to pay attention to what he's doing

Dragonfly- at least your little guy pees in/near the toliet! I just carpet cleaned and washed tons of toys after my little guy decided to pee in the toy workbench:dunce:

I would also 'watch' when he pees as maybe he's got something wrong. I remember when my nephew was potty training he was spraying everywhere and my sil couldn't figure out why. Went to the dr, Turns out his 'pee hole' wasn't full open? anyways an easy little snip and now its a straight stream:giggles:

Just use the zipper opening......keep the pants buttoned up.

Unzip....pull the little snake out, pee, shake, zip up and go! :giggles:
No pants on the floor!

Other than that, make him sit, or get a urinal.

 at this now.

But if I ever announce I am having a boy, will someone please bump this thread and laugh ruthlessly at my terror?

Thank you. There is a good chance this is what is happening with the poop. He hasn't had any pee accidents. He claims he doesn't want to take the time to go, which is why we're not taking the time to shower. ;) I'm going to keep an eye on it....this is not new behavior for him, his therapists is focusing on it more now, too. If he remembers to poop when he needs to, and he lets me know, we have a deal that he will get more Lego time. Today is Day 1. We'll see how it goes!

If this is the problem (which God willing it isn't) prepare for a lot of work and months before you see improvement. You can get an xray of his intestines to see if there is a blockage and go from there. Also, you may want to look at other alternatives besides the Miralax treatment most Drs recommend.

Yep def. use Cheerios and def. watch him to see where he's going wrong. I know it may seem weird, but you're his mom now. You also may need to make sure he's cleaning himself down there correctly. :9:

My DS10 only sits (yes even just to pee). Is that weird? I don't mind because he doesn't make a mess like his older brother. :hides:

Jonny sits too. I have no problem with it lol

I would suggest not having them to just pull it out the zipper area and what not. Reason being, it sounds as if he is in a rush. If he rushes and doesn't put himself away properly, he may just zip himself up. That would be horrible!

Grateful for whatever dh taught ds8. I have never had issues with either of them peeing all over. And I know they don't sit.

dragonfly is he used to showers more than baths? My DS10 still takes mostly baths. He likes to play with toys in the bath and I still wash his hair most of the time. He has done it a couple times, but doesn't do a good job. :hides:

I would try having him pee sitting. (has to press it down!)

It is easier for them to do it sitting at that age. I don't know how tall a 6 yo he is...but seems sitting is just easier.

And obviously, whatever happens at public stand up urinals....stays at public stand up urinals. (lol)

ITA

Re: public urinals I always tell my boys to go into a stall and pee in there. I'm sure DS13 doesn't do it anymore, but I know DS10 does.

All the kids in my house did baths until 8 or 9 or so too. (and I had to wash their hair)

I'm glad I'm not the only one. DH says I baby him too much which I know I do, but what can I say.......................he's IS my baby! :bliss:

My little one sits to pee…. so does his father. :wink2:
