Lou's has a "deal", 6 pizzas for $99, shipping included.
So I just dropped $100 on pizza. Oh, the things that displaced Chicagoans will do for a taste of home! :surrender:
I figure that's 6 dinners, and I can't go out to a pizza place 6 times for dinner for that much money so it's okay. Or at least that's how I've justified it. These have to last us a few months, though! I can't be spending that much on pizza too often! (Well, I could but I don't think that would be healthy.)
I know what y'all are wondering now...if I will spend $100 on pizza, what would I do for a Klondike bar? :giggles:
Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do for that back home taste!!!!!!! Aurelios is my weakness (NWI) and we don't have one close so everytime I go to mom's (next county over) I convince everyone to pitch in! LOL
Though the last few times it's tasted like ****-prolly what I paid for it! HAHA
That is not bad at all since it was shipped and eating Chicago style pizza is worth every penny when you can't get it anymore.
My BFF who grew up in Chicago moved to Indiana. The last time she came in in September that is all they did, eat pizza and Italian beef's from Mr. Beef.
I thought I had been to them all...Giordano's, Gino's East, Eduardo's. I've never been to Lou's. I'll have to make sure I try it the next time we're up there. All the Uno's closed here within the past two months.
Whenever I visit my family - I HAVE to bring Gino's Pizza (frozen/half-baked) or Italian beef (Johhny's os 1st choice, but Portillo's packages it all so nicely).
I used to fly with them as my carry-on. Let me tell you, hauling 3 large pizzas is NOT fun...
Mr. Felicia used to work for a company that had an office outside of Philadelphia. He would have to bring me back a Pat's cheesesteak and a quart of Rita's water ice. He had a special little cooler bag and reusable ice packs just for this. He had it down to a science, picked it up the day before he left, froze it all up, toted it home with the ice packs.
I'll bet it's more fun than carrying on a Kitchen Aid Mixer. It was one of the few wedding shower gifts I couldn't return/rebuy. (We lived in NY; shower was in MO.) That thing weighed a ton.
One of the Chicago peeps needs to start their own service so I can try these for a reasonable price.
I have a friend whom loves pizza from a local pizza joint so i got one whle sheet pizza (24 pizeces)
ziplock baged afew per bag froze them and back into my carry on in a softsided freezer/cooler thign.. and did the same with Bison's chip did (4 i think).. that was a fun flight LOL
There is absolutely nothing wrong with splurging on Lou Malnattis pizza! We LOVE it! Enjoy a little taste of home ... How are you adjusting? Are you feeling any better about the move? I hope so
Well, I blogged last night about how I'm feeling about the move. Still not so great. I really miss home, I miss my friends, I miss not being lost all the time!
Ugh, my IL's. Remember my post on Joan's thread about how they let their little evil dog suffer while dying from cancer for two weeks? They had him put down 2 weeks ago. A week later - A WEEK! she buys a dog from a lady on CL who was selling their 4 yr old Bischon because her 13 yo dd was told if she didn't "play with the dog more" they would sell it TO PAY FOR HER BRACES. The parents felt the girl was ignoring the dog too much and too busy with sports, etc so without warning the 13 yo girl, the mom took the dog, met MIL at the mall, and sold the dog for 30 pieces of silver, I mean $300. I am so po'd at my MIL for having a part in stealing this poor girl's pet.
But wait, it gets better. The dog is a male bischon named COOCHIE. *shakes head*
I think there was something seriously wrong with the original owners, it's a pity MIL didn't get to know them better bc they could have been BFF's.
They want to rename the dog, but don't know what to name it. I think it's disrespectful to try to "replace" a deceased pet that quickly. A week! She didn't even have the ashes back from the vet yet! And it doesn't matter who the new dog is or how sweet he is, he will never replace the old dog. I don't think it's healthy to try to replace a pet like that, you have to give yourself time to grieve and work through your emotions before you add a new pet to your family. But MIL is weird, and totally emotionally inappropriate - we have already established that!
