It's almost worth it though when the kids are sweet - good to remind them how much they looooovs their Mom right? :giggles:

baked chicken, carmelized maple brussels sprouts & mushrooms, spinach, and baked potatoes. No one but dh even touched a potato. Dh made the chicken and potatoes and I made the brussels sprouts and spinach.

Authentic Mexican tortas and tacos...celebrating a friends birthday and his dad is cooking. Soooo looking forward to it....I'm literally addicted to his tortas! Can't find them anywhere that are as good, and believe me we've tried them all looking. We only get to eat them a few times a year, so I plan on stuffing myself! :)

Busy day in the kitchen today. Kind of chilly today....63 going down to 45 Sun. night.
So far.....
Making Ham stock, for making Julia Childs Split pea and ham soup tomorrow.
Made a Lemon pie to take to neighbors tomorrow.
Going to make Sausage Harvest Casserole, (recipe a few posts ago) for supper tonight.

Kitchen smells awesome!

My DH offered to cook ... I don't know if I should be happy about it or not because 1) it means that we won't eat at a decent time and 2) he's going to leave a terrible mess for me to clean up. When I say mess, I mean every single pot and pan dirtied, flour and food and stuff all over the floor, sink full of dishes, etc.

Sirloin steaks
Scallops and crab
Asparagus

Veggie stuffed peppers packed with quinoa, butternut squash, onions, spinach, grape tomatoes, mushrooms, brussel sprouts and little shrimp along with butternut squash soup and fresh strawberries.

That sounds delicious! My dh is actually doing the cooking tonight too. I've got some health issues that are pretty much keeping me in bed right now so dh took my list and shopped at 4 grocery stores (taking ds8 with him :)) and now he is cooking using the recipes I had planned. He will probably have the 11 and 13 year olds do a lot of the cleaning up. Your meal plan for tonight is something my dh would love to make and something he would really make well. He makes the best steaks.

Sorry you aren't feeling good ... hope you're better asap!

The scallops and crab were an impromptu purchase because we had to go to Costco today and they looked so good. The plan was always steaks tonight but DH always has to "do it up big" so now we'll have way too much food on our plates.

It's now 6:10 and my DH just got up from the computer and started dinner and this is after about 3 or 4 "gentle" reminders from me. My guess is we'll be eating around 7:30 or 8:00. Keep in mind, I have a 8 yo and 6 yo and they are used to eating dinner at 6:30 every night. I'm guessing that in a little while, DH will hear a few complaints from these guys about how hungry they are ... LOL.

Baked salmon (so delicious!) and Loubia. The Loubia is delicious too! I got the recipe from youtube from the link Barb provided maybe a few pages back. Dh says he could even eat the Loubia cold, and I could see wrapping it in tortillas. I guess we made it thick, but it is gooood.

I LOVE Alia...her videos are easy to follow and her food is really traditional. If you like the flavors in the loubia, you may find a few things your family would like following her youtube videos.

Glad you liked it!

Slow cooker country ribs and cilantro lime rice.

They were both meh individually, but awesome once combined. The meat was too plain and the rice too limey. Together, just right.
