I have dry skin, I mean, REALLY dry skin I put lotion on an hour ago after my shower (I think it was Suave intensive care) and my skin is already getting those skaily looking cracks again, any ideas?
Have u tried Eucerin or Aquafor. I have been told that it works for some people. It didnt work for my DD4 who has extremely dry skin. The one thing that worked was pure shea butter (found at local African stores). Not the greatest smell but it worked like magic. There was a big difference with a couple days.
My current favorite is some stuff MIL was given when she was in the hospital. It's very thick, smells nice and WORKS! It's called MEDLINE REMEDY with Olivamine skin repair cream. I don't think it's sold in stores, but I'll go to the corners of the Earth to get some more!
Oh wait, it's at Wags (at least online)...........prolly other places.
You mentioned after the shower your skin is dry. If you take really hot showers this may cause the skin to be dry.... use little more than luke warm water. This winter was not bad on my skin because it was so warm here. Usually though, I am ridiculous in use of lotion. Cooler showers tend to help.
We just started trying some Melaleuca products and got some of their Renew lotion that is supposed to be amazing for eczema and dry skin. Seems good so far....
Eucerin is supposed to be good. Or what about Lubriderm or Aveeno. the oatmeal in Aveeno is supposed to be good. My sister believes in cocoa butter lotions. I use whatever is free myself. Also maybe try vaseline, I knew a lady years ago that used it on her face and hands............... she had gorgeous skin ............. smooth like a baby's butt.
Gold Bond works great and has a pleasant smell- alternately the Aveeno also works well , the oatmeal helps with any itchiness but it smells menthol/medicine-like. I do prefer the Aveeno for soothing itch without using cortisone
.
Lubriderm is amazing. My pharmacist recommended it to keep a horrible sunburn from peeling a couple of years ago and it worked great. I have used it since
not guna lie, i opened this thread expecting a different outcome. i read all the posts and no one said anything about chicken choking? how is this possible? or does everyone just do a dry rub? i know i'm a lady but really expected a guy to respond with something else not so serious. lol but agreed, i will only use the free stuff, not picky with lotion, just my charmin red tp, LUV it so much.
Crisco. My niece has horrible exzema. Her skin was so scaly/flaky that her eyebrows wouldn't grow. Her doctor recommended that she slather her whole body with regular Crisco. Within a few days her skin looked beautiful. She buys the big canister and puts some in a small jar with a little bit of essential oils for fragrance and carries that in her purse.
