DH and I are in the market to purhase new luggage and was curious if anyone can share what brand they have and if you love it? Ours is 15 years old and we need to update it and get a set with the 4 wheels (spinner wheels). I have been looking at Tumi but I just don't know if I could ever get myself to spend that much. Perhaps it is worth it -not sure. Just seems so expensive.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. We typically will fly rather than drive.

TIA

My american tourister was my favorite. I replaced it with a similar styled Samsonite. Travelpro was the other brand I considered but the only color the airline acquired/ discounted ones came in was black. I'm not sure that the Travelpro's available elsewhere are made as well.

I also have MandarinaDuck, Atlantic and Heys as I needed different sizes for different length trips.

Avoid the spinning wheels if you want longevity and a little bit more space in your carry on and bring a measuring tape with you when you shop. Not all marked carry on really are.

If I had the cash I would have bought the Tumi but I found everything I wanted in the Samsonite for under $100 at TJ's or Marshalls... next time I'll get a Tumi though.

DH puts tons of miles on his luggage every year. He swears by Luggage Works. I think they are less attractive than others, but if you are looking for durability they really hold up.

I went with two 25"(?) from Carson's. I think it was $100 a piece but on BOGOF and used a 50/100. Held up really well for $55.00 with tax for both.

Just whatever you do don't buy black it is so much easier at the airport when my bright red cheapo suitcase comes around. I got some from JC Penney outlet before they closed in Gurnee. We also bought some from Kohls last year on Black Friday that was Chaps brand, it was really expensive and it ripped on the first trip a couple weeks later. So we took it back. The other kind we have is Protocol which is pretty cheap I think, but has held up well.
