Hubby and I are looking to buy a home in the next 6-9 months. We have been researching different builders, as well as short sales and regular listings. I will see different homes I like and check back to find they have sold...but I don't know the price. I have googled but haven't found a great source. Anyone?

As humble advice ...

If you're not going to be buying for a minimum of 6 months, and as many as 9 months, I would suggest waiting for 5 to 8 months before you even start looking. By the time it's the Spring, the market will exhibit distinct differences when compared to the present.

Do you have anything more specific to offer information-wise?

Like ...

Where would you prefer to live?
What kind of house?
How much land?
What's you basic price preference?
What appeals you about a builder, compared to regular listings?
What appeals you about short sales, compared to regular listings?
What, to you, is the importance of the sold prices?

I know there are websites listed here, and that's fine. I'm sure Trulia is coming too.

There's information to be found in many places. The problem is, far too much of it is inaccurate/out-dated where it really counts.

We are looking now because we are thinking of having our house built. It would be move-in ready within our time frame. I know spring is better for the market in general, but the only thing that the builders would change are their incentives. I know houses are being sold in new developments, so I am looking to see comps so we know what prices to stay firm at.
