TUESDAY'S Storm...

Re: Thursdays storm

Bought some yesterday. It just tickled me to do it, plus we needed another kind of fruit in the house.

DS has a half day of school tomorrow. I'm keeping my phone by my bed in case they call off. It's not a lot of snow but if there's going to be any delay at all they may as well cancel.

Re: Thursdays storm

Son of a #$%^&*.....I ask for snow all winter and NOW is when it comes. I drove home from WIU in a **** snow storm a few days ago and now we need to be at NIU at 9 am tomorrow morning. Don't be surprised if we get back to back storms with one again Saturday morning because we have to be in Rolling Meadows at 9 am as well. If it weren't for bad luck, I would have no luck at all.

Let it snow, let it snow....oh stfu

If only we still gave out taglines. :girl:

Re: Thursdays storm

I need to hurry out to Aldi and go get my bananas before I pick up DS at 11:00!!!

I did buy a couple more sleds yesterday in anticipation of the this snow. Target had them marked down to 1.xx so I thought "why not?" My boys are really hoping for enough snow to get sledding. I don't like the snow but it does make them happy to play in it so I won't mind it if we get a few inches.

Just checked the forecast and I guess the heaviest of the snow will fall during the overnight hours? I much prefer it that way too since most people will be safe at home then.

Re: Thursdays storm

Snow is the best winter toy for kids! Kids will be happy. Good that the igniter on the furnace broke now and not when we are snowed in (if we are getting that much).

Re: Thursdays storm

Ok fill me in - what's with the bananas?
I believe it is just this - go to the grocery store anytime the forecasters are predicting a major snow storm and you will be lucky to see any bananas left. People stock up on them when they think they will be snowbound. I've seen it myself. For now, I don't particularly need any bananas. Why do I feel a slight urge to swing by the store and pick up a few when I have to go out tonight? I think this part would be called the "hot Christmas toy I'm afraid they'll all be gone" behavior if I cave in and buy some bananas anyway.

Oh, wait, I need bread and milk too! Watch this video. Too funny!

Re: Thursdays storm

we had to travel back from NIU during a snow storm---we were surprised that the side streets/neighborhoods were better plowed that the interstate----we saw so many plows on the side of the road--waiting to plow---and then my son called (he was driving separately) he went to a side streets--went rt 38 and said the roads were much better--because the toll way has only certain areas they are allowed to cover before they have to pull over and let the next person pick it up--Silly--but if the roads are bad--don't be afraid to get on Rte. 38--because the small towns were great at keeping it plowed (we switched out as soon as we could--and he was right!) I was worried about the hills in Geneva and St. Charles--but their roads were clear as could be!! Lets hope for your sake--since they all have known the storm is coming--that the plows are all out--and we DON'T get that horrible freezing rain they are predicting--I can handle the snow--it is the stupid ICE and freezing rain that cause the problems--so lets hope the salt trucks are out well in advance

Re: Thursdays storm

Though I will say, if we get the snow--it will be nice to know that cookiemom will like it--and it will brighten her day!!! (Can we send some extra snow just her way???)

Re: Thursdays storm

Just stay at Lee's house - She could use the $80 lodging fee, she sounds like a good cook, and there are plenty of toys to play with!

Let's see, if she doesn't mind sleeping with 30 cases of laminate wood, a kitchen sink, a vent hood and a toilet (yeah, they are all out of the box waiting to be installed) in the spare bedroom.

She can have plenty of toys to play with though. LOL

Re: Thursdays storm

Hilarious!!!! My mom does this every time! Yesterday she was going through the pantry to see what we had. Mind you, she never grocery shops or cooks.... All for 3 inches of snow.

Re: Thursdays storm

Nanny why not spend the $$$ and get a hotel room tonight-peace of mind is worth it IMO

That is exactly what I was thinking. Been online looking for a decent hotel. I want to stay in DeKalb but the two hotels on priceline look like **** holes. Gotta keep looking.

Nooooooooooooo, I love Mary, but her "way" is my way.

Re: Thursdays storm

Did you look in Sycamore--Some of those hotels are new

It shows them 10 miles away from NIU and I was trying to stay really close to the University to reduce dd's anxiety in the morning. I was looking, just not sure I want to be more than a couple miles or so. I haven't seen the weather channel. Anyone know what the latest update is?

**I am NOT trying to stay in DeKalb because there is a Carsons there <crossing fingers>....nope, not at all.

Re: Thursdays storm

The super 8 motel is very basic, but is right next to I88 but also right by the train track, could be a bother.

Some of the hotels in Sycamore are on rt 23 (a.k.a. DeKalb Ave), which is right next to DeKalb.
