Difference is that you're pissing off your own country, not the several hundred other ones that aren't as privileged as you are.
Trump is finally showing how much of a privileged elitist prick he really is.
I can see both sides of the story. Bottom line, people REALLY hate having their country (or area of a country) insulted. It can turn even friendly people into enemies. So is it no wonder drill instructors always insult someone's home?

This is for a different reason. The concept being that you break someone right down to build them back up the way you want them to be. It makes sense and has merits

Well, the bottom line is these other cultures are sensitive and they're massively jealous. In that case, a person has to walk on eggshells when overseas. You can't do a Trump. I mean, some dude in some poor country is already frustrated beyond imagination anyway - and then the leader of the US calls his nation a dump. Well, anyway, your typical crazy grandpa has been saying stuff like that for years - but he's in some small town (in the US, UK etc.) - far away from all the people he hates/loathes.

Trump just has a different approach and style with the media. It's not always good to talk and bash certain aspects in front of others just because of who he is makes people mad but the tell it like it is approach I guess is what he uses.
Wouldn't be the first time trump did something like that.
