They WEREN'T JOKING!!!! (weather related ****ing)

Re: They better be joking (weather related ****ing)

The storm that will be hitting WI, will meet up with the cold from dropping down from Canada and that will hit Sandy here, creating the 'storm of the century' that has the meteorologists going bonkers.

You're not kidding. One of the guys at work is obsessed with storms so he's been giving everyone updates. When he left today he said 5 of 7 models have the storm headed towards NY.

Delightful.

Batten down the hatches over the weekend & stay safe.

Barb, I hate to tell you this, but if it is that bad there, then we'll have a rough time too. Combine that nice warm humid front from the East with our cold dry humid front from the NorthWest and you have?

Re: They better be joking (weather related ****ing)

The video explains it better - that high pressure from Sandy is going to stall our low pressure front over us.

Re: They better be joking (weather related ****ing)

You guys....HOLY CRAP. I just read about this.

I am scared and no where NEAR you!!!! They are saying it could just storm for 5-6 days and cost $1 Billion.

Ummmm.....seriously, we have room in the Mid West.

:bliss:

Wait

You realize Sophie comes with me, right? :giggles:

All right my east coast ladies... Dh is freaking out cause his bf who's in Brooklyn just called to tell him how horrible it's gonna be. We're supposed to fly out Monday late afternoon, think I will be able to get out Sunday am instead? I'd be so disappointed to tell dh that maybe we shouldn't go.... :snicker: :)

Airlines are usually more lenient when there are major storms like this coming. I think late afternoon Monday is pretty much when the storm is supposed to really get bad. If you could manage to get out before that I would definitely do it. If not you may be hanging out in NY a little longer than expected.

Hope Tazz & the PA folks are getting ready...

Airlines get all of their planes out of the area when a hurricane is coming, they don't want to risk any damage to their planes. Flights will be cancelled ahead of the storm, then horrifically back logged after.

Didn't get much here....maybe 1 1/2" of rain, not much wind. It's 68 degrees here this morning....time to break out the fur coats and flannel jammies! :giggles:

Glad to hear it Steve.

I work with a Prepper. He's talking about the two rain barrels he recently bought and he'll fill up so that he won't be without water. Showing us his little personal water filter so that he can have drinking water no matter what.

He's freakin' the rest of us out. :tap:

Haven't spoken to the weather-obsessed guy yet. He seems to be busy this morning. I'm guessing he's studying all the models.

Prepper just stopped by my desk to tell me about the oil lanterns he's got. :surrender:

Someone at SD posted this pic of Stop & Shop during the pre-Irene stock up frenzy last year. That was the bottled water aisle.

I hope my power stays on, I can't afford a generator right now. If I lived in Foxborough, I'd be moving heaven & earth to get a generator because National Grid has screwed them over every major storm, but I'm with NSTAR.

Re: They better be joking (weather related ****ing)

I did a couple of transactions at CVS this morning and there was a definite run on the bottled water. (I was just finishing up my ECB deals for the week.)
