What's new

The extreme couponing backlash...

I did binder when I first started and the deals were worth it. Not in over 2 years now.

Me too! I spent like 4 months dedicating myself to cutting/folding down every coupon to fit in those TINY baseball card slots. HOURS AND HOURS dedicated to it....

couldn't take it. New insert day was hell not a holiday.:keeper:

I tried the baseball card slots briefly...the Q's generally slid out of the pockets or were too big to fit in the slots!

I used a binder for a long time and then I started going to the paper dumpster and getting 100 papers so I switched to the date system now im back to the binder cause Im only buying 6 papers

My mom used to have 2 metal cashboxes and had them filed by store aisle for her two favs. She'd set them in the front of the cart and shop shop shop.

These days I have so many empty file boxes... having to repurpose them.

Anyone want to write Nathan Engel (or ever sistawhatsherface) and ask them if they are still sure EC won't hurt couponers?

Course, they are such newbs....they don't know what real hauls were like.
if we go by current estimated worth of wuc, I think he's happy @ the traffic EC brought to his site,

http://www.freewebsitereport.org/www.weusecoupons.com

effect on other couponers? well...

Horrible tone in the article...but whatever. I would rather couponers go back to being "greedy", immoral, and grubby, than sensationalized and treated like celebrities.

Is that all there is left at Jewel?

Let's compile a list. In the last year Jewel has eliminated:

1. The spread
2. Buy XX get XX catalina deals
3. Spend XX get X before coupons
4. Wine Tags
5. Instant thresholds (with new registers)
6. Scanner price guarantee
7. Penny trick
8.
9.

Penny trick added. Don't know how I could forget. She may be gone, but the herpes are forever.......

FYI - I don't have herpes

okay, I am going to look at this as the glass half full. (At least for me). I have not been couponing that long. I was at a point in my life that I knew that I should go back to work. The only thing that was holding me back was my mom's health. I needed in my own mind to be there for her at the drop of a hat. A job IRL would not care that she was not well.

So I guess what I am trying to say...is that I never experienced couponing when things were really, really good. "I wish I had"...maybe DH could have retired by 50....LOL....but I am very glad that I have found you all. You have really made a difference in my life and how I feel about peeps that I have never even met.....and for that I thank you all!

You can never focus on what you've missed by not getting into the game earlier - there are always people who claim there were quadruple couponing, unlimited prints and friendly coupon-friendly customer service people at Dominicks...I call them liars.

You started and learned and you are now way ahead of the pack. There will always be another deal - it just changes, that's all.
