teen mom

Is it just me, but don't you think those babies are a little old to have pacifiers in their mouths nearly all the time? I can understand bedtime and naps, but just walking around the house? I thought Maci tried to break Bentley...

Maci tried to break Bently and did well for a day or two, but dad gave it back to him and she never tried again I think.

On one hand i fully agree they are too old, but since I do not have the energy to take it from my 16 month right now with the new 1 month old, I don't want to be a hypocrite  We are determined she will be off it by 18 months though...hoping for much sooner, but absolutely cold turkey at 18 months if not done before then. She was almost done with it until the baby came.

YES!
I still see kids that look to be 3-4 with them in...

It took us until my son was 3 or 4 to finally get him to give it up. We would take them away and he would magically find more. It was like he had a secret stash. He would steal them back and hide them. He loved his pacifier so much. The girl is a thumb sucker. I tried so hard to get her on a pacifier, but no go.

Mine did too!!! Where the hell did they come from?!

My oldest son called every pacifier "Donald". (His first and fav was a Donald Duck one)

It was never ending. We had to bribe him to give them up with a Lincoln Log train set he wanted. Thing was discontinued, I had to get it off of ebay.

OMG! Yes! every one we have ever lost, she found...she is down to the last one (we think). But I am starting to wonder were they ever lost or did she know to hide them at 2 mos to go back and find them....lol

My son always called them 'plugs', and one night the 'plug fairy' came and took all his 'plugs' away and left him a present. He was 3, and he threw a fit that morning and that was it!

We are completely OT, but for those with the extended pacifier users, did you find it easier to take it when the child could reason (have a convo with you, exchange it for something else) Right now my DD16 mos will scream bloody murder taking a nap/going to sleep without it and crying it out does not work for her, she will scream for 1.5 hours plus. I actually listened to her cry for 1.5 hours and could not let her keep screaming like that :(

Seriously babe it's not worth it. Let the kid have her passy....it's not like she'll start high school with it. What does it hurt?

I think every parent knows what is best for their child. It is true that it can hurt their teeth so the earlier the better
however, I had someone she waited until her child understood--she had her child give all the pacifiers to Santa Clause so he could help the other children that needed them
She involved her child in the process-by every time they walked by a child that was crying-she might say--Oh I wonder if that child needs a pacifier--I wonder if we should give some of ours to Santa to give to that child and make them happy--so Santa didn't seem like a bully that takes pacifiers--but someone who gave nice gifts to others--
It worked for her child.
For mine, we just cut it cold turkey and it was fine--but every child is different
so GOOD LUCK
(My friend also did this with diapers when it was time to potty train--she used what ever was in season-_Santa, Easter Bunny--whatever--and that was the gift they left him)

It can hurt their teeth and their speech.

That is what I am worried about. But I guess since she takes it mainly to sleep with and spits it out once she is sleep, maybe it is not as big of a problem as I am worring myself about. I just find it hard to take it from her and she sees the new baby with one. The baby has a different one (and she does't even like it so she might not take one at all) but it is still a pacifier and my older daughter knows it is one. I guess i will give it to the 18 month mark and see where we are. My DH will let her keep it for 20 years if it means he doesn't have to hear her cry and interrupt football

The speech therapist I know says it's best if after 1 year kids using only to sleep and completely off by 2 years old. Also bottles after 1 year is a no no.

But your the mom she's not in your house. And you have got to pick your battles carefully

 My oldest was and EARLY talker and NON STOP! Sometimes we would "plug him" to shut him up! :words:

Ok, then we are well within her guidelines  The more I face life with 2 under 2, the more I want to choose my battles

Star magazine reports that Catlyn & Tyler have a college fund set up for donations. By someone else not them & it recieved over $7500 in one day.

If they're being paid 60k per season-they sure as hell shouldn't be getting donations from people. These girls aren't movie stars & i'm so over the way young girls are idolizing them.

60K per season... last I heard it was under $10,000. (Not that it's something to sniff at but...) when did they start receiving soooooo much??

ETA: Per season ohhh I getcha.... it is $10,000 ish per episode. :duh:
