I don't know if everyone will notice it...so, reposting: (I just now noticed it and I have been on and off all night!!)



This weekend (give or take) CW will be reset. This means Vbulletin will be reinstalled from scratch. All posts will be gone. All pm's will be gone, all everything will be gone. It will be a brand new clean forum. People will need to re-register. Certain issues can't be fixed without this. I will also probably do away with certain features on CW that are server intensive to see if we can go on a cheaper plan.

I don't think it's a matter of people donating enough, I think it's the errors & pm issues that can't be fixed unless Tazz upgrades. It's *a lot* of money per month. IDK if we gather enough donations to cover it what is costs now & if we upgrade (more $) it'll really leave Tazz in a bind on the months she is short.

We should save the important stuff. We have today & tomorrow to go through each forum & at least grab what is stickied. We should divide & conquer, volunteers can take a forum & save what we need & repost when the new board is up. Is there a moderator for each forum? I'm not really sure how this works, but the mods can save the important stuff from their forums or other people can offer to do it.

I know Tazz wants no ads, but would it be so bad to have a few that pay for things? Maybe that's too hard to manage. Really don't know...
 
I think it has to do with the errors and stuff we don't really need/use that takes up a lot of server space.

Frustration = people with no PMs, random errors.
Waste = things that are costing a lot each month that no one would miss if they were gone.

Seems to me members have proven we are willing to pay if it is a cost issue. I think this has to do more with the above two points.
 
reporter20 is correct. Tazzy told me about it a while ago. AND her reasons were that anything transferred to the new board could bring the current failing issues from this current board to the new one.

So, all fresh, shiny, and brand new is the plan.

The decision to go with a new board wasn't due to not enough donations. Tazz and I don't get PMs here....and there are other critical errors that are easiest fixed with switching to a new one.
 
Oh well, maybe a new start is good. Some people dont like change, but we have to give it a try. Thanks for all the good info.
 
i think it would make sense to start a thread now with suggestions on things/posts/etc that peeps might want to save before the site gets reset and everything is gone.

i am definitely one of those people that appreciate people's foresight as to what info might be valuable.
 
I hate change...but it is a good thing most of the times. MoFo has not posted in a while and I am sure icoupon and I will not miss the siggy...LOL
