tattoos & piercings

Covering up works well too when one is trying to get a job, unfortunately.
It seems that a lot of employers don't want to see them. My finace even takes out his earring for work.

I have a small tattoo of a rose w/ a spider web & a heart caught in it on my back/shoulder. I like the locale because it stays hidden.
No peircings...just ears. :)

I have my navel pierced as well as two holes in each ear. I want to get a tattoo on my lower back of a fairy that represents the water element. It's a really nice tattoo

As of a few weeks ago, I'm down to 9 piercings; I took out my tongue and cartilage rings. However, as of Saturday, I'm up to 7 tattoos. The new one is currently itching the bejesus out of me, though.

I sincerely hope this file isn't too big.

that's awesome -- a bit different in style from most of the others you have, but I'm a big fan of ecclecticism :) I get all exited when there's an attatchment posted in the tattoo thread by mth. I feel like a kid at christmas, tearing wrapping paper off a box while it loads :)

I have had my eyebrow done again, it started to grow out about 6 months ago so I took it out so it didn't scar. It was fully healed so went and had it done last weekend :D
Also thinking about getting a tattoo done, probably in the same place as you Mth but a little bigger.
I like the one Jen Tate in the computer game Primal has (see pic), but doubt I will get one done... I am a big chicken really.
Not worried about it hurting, just that it's pretty **** permanent.

How is everyone anyway?

I like that :)

If you're even remotely worried about it hurting, it's not too bad. Some parts, for me, at least, actually tickled. Kind of a painful tickle, but a tickle nonetheless. As for permanence, I'm fairly glad all but one of my tattoos are on my back. It means I don't constantly see them and get sick of them ;)

I'm doing pretty good, you? And where the HELL have you been? PM me or something :)

After watching one of the guys from Dirty Sanchez have a certain lower more 'private' part of his body pierced I can quite safely say I will never have that done.

No thanks. I've never been very interested in mutilating my body. Instead I just eat too much and sit around in front of a computer, avoiding all forms of exercise.

Quite honestly, I'm a bit tired of people saying that tattoos and piercings are "mutilations" of my body. Of course, you're entitled to your opinion, but I also wouldn't call you fat to your face. I think if one more person tells me that they have more respect for strippers than people with tattoos, I'm going to scream.

James,
Actually, YOU are mutilating your body if you are purposely eating too much, sitting around, and gaining weight.

For me, I just have one piercing, but I don't have anything against tattoos at all.

As for society, I think it is hard sometimes for a tatooed person when they go for a job interview because some people can't look past that.

Thank you.

On jobs: I've only had one that had a problem with my tattoos. Of course, they didn't at first, but when I added more to my back, the office manager pitched a fit. (I already had some visible, I just added more to it.) But during the interview process, I always tell my prospective employer that I have tattoos - if it's a problem, I ask that they tell me in advance so I'll know to keep them covered. I think, for the most part and depending on the filed, people are becoming more lax about appearance. As long as you're clean and do your job well, most employers don't seem to care too much (if you're job isn't all public relations).

I pierced my own ears 2 times. (I have 2 on my left ear, and 3 on my right ear) One time, I did a third one on my left ear, but that got SO swollen and infected that I had no choice but to take it out. I want that repierced eventually, and I'm not doing THAT one myself. This thread is making me want to pierce my own ear again.....
My cartilage piecing isn't really infected, but it gets sore occasioanlly and bleeds a little, and I've had it pierced for a year! Why is that?
My navel piercing is just about healed! :D I can't wait to get it changed!
I'd liek my eyebrow pierced, but I can't do that, because of my volunteering job (in a hospital) and I have kind of a small face, so I'm not sure how good that would look on me...
