Stolen iPad question

No clue.

Cloud only works if that's set up, IP addys aren't linked or anything, right? Serial numbers can-t be pulled/found?

Sorry to be a ****, just trying to help another ****

Well, where did they buy it?

Apple is HIGHLY uncooperative at helping people track down their stuff. It is very much a he-said she-said issue. Even if say Best Buy prints the serial on the receipt (I think they do), it would take an act of God for Apple to inform the buyer when the serial was registered, because maybe the person who bought it sold it, right?

Do you mean the person who stole it sold it? If so, yeah, probably.

No, like if I bought an IPAD.

Then I sold it on Ebay.

Then I was a scamming ****, so I reported it stolen.

Then Apple helped me retrieve it.

Then they would be abetting me in my crime.

That's why Apple doesn't get involved.

Also, this happens a lot at my kids high school (my own kids have done it)

They get a new ipod. They sell the old one to someone at school for $75 (fine by me, it's theirs). If there were a mechanism in place at Apple (which there isn't), I as their parent could report the ipod stolen, because it is registered to us, I probably have the receipt. However, it was sold in a subsequent tx. So it's not stolen. But I could say it was.

Also, why Apple doesn't get involved.

what about if it was stolen from a store or a manufacturer? :bee: You just have me curious now, I'm not stealing iPads!

She says if it's twins, I can have one.

Honestly, I don't know the right kind of people to buy a stolen iPad. At least I think.
