I have a domain that vB 4 has been installed on for a good 6 months or so. I hadn't done anything except setup the forums, categories, and a promoted usergroup. Yesterday, I decided to 'downgrade' to 3.8 as vB 4 has no good looking free styles (IMHO), plus I'm a lot more confident working with 3.8. The downgrade was easy as pie with Impex, BTW.

What do I do? Out of the 30 or so spammers that I've banned over the last 6 months I delete the one legitimate member when trashing the spam accounts.

D'oh!

I setup something similar and had 30-60 spammers sign up but I wasn't interested in starting another forum, ended up selling the domain.

wait..

how?

I was really surprised myself. I found the instructions here: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=255104

It's really very simple and am surprised IB has it. Simply upload Impex to your 3.8 install and select vB 4 as your source board.

Permissions didn't carry over but I wasn't really expecting them too.

ha.. I have the 3rd post on that page and I sure don't remember seeing that. I'm even subscribed to the thread.
Attachments are gone also if you have any. I think they changed the way they are held.
maybe?
You can downgrade your vbulletin from 4.x to 3.x very very easy ! Without losing attachments , thanks , passwords .

Ahh I didn't notice that, I have a new board and didn't have any attachments.

Maybe you can import them later, but they are held in the database differently from what I remember.

I could be 100% wrong though lol

No, you're on to something. I remember the vB 4 upgrade process 'converting attachments' what ever the heck that means.

I'd think that the vB 4 importer would convert them back though as people still merge forums but IB doesn't go my logic most times.
