Do you wait until it stops to go out and shovel or do you go out once in a while to keep up with it so it doesn't get too heavy?

Don't know what you're talking about. What's snow?

We are getting an apology from last year from Mother Nature.

But to answer your question, depends on the snowfall amount. 6"+ during for the steps and walkway. I wait if it is less than that. I snowblow the driveway after all is done.

i am currently shoveler for the elderly lady next door and the gentleman with cancer on the other side, (my 92 yr old lady i shoveled for died this summer and i feel so guilty for being a bit relieved for not having to do hers any more, i really miss her) but i was spending ALL day shovelling when you include our drive etc... i am planning on shoveling in a few minutes just enough so if the neighbors need police or ambulance service to their doors etc, they will be somewhat clear for the night. and tomorrow will be dedicated to shoveling them/us all out.

I try to shovel before driving on it since it gets packed down. Of course with 4 boys, I usually delegate that activity! One boy is home right now since he had exams. Isn't it great how that works out?!

Awww that's really nice of you. :flowers:

I go out when the schedule allows for it. So maybe it's nap time and only 2 inches have fallen, I'll clear it off. Or wait until bedtime and do it all. Or hope that DH just does it :)

It has been non stop snowing since 2 am, so I go out every couple of hours and shovel so I dont have a ton to do at once. I happened to be off today so its not a problem. Thankfully Jonny LOVES helping :)

When Pat moves home(soon!!) I will share the responsibility with him. Whether he likes it or not. We dont have much to shovel, a small cement pad, a short, thin sidewalk, and our driveway pad(we live in a trailer)

not as nice as your bicycle trailer lady gestures of sincere kindness and caring. and what goes around comes around. last year all my neighbors gave me a kindness appreciation gift, which i really did not need. the next door neighbor thanked us with a load of split firewood delivered,(once again, not necessary) and the corner lady gave me her above ground pool for the kiddies, as did the neighbor years ago who moved gave us our first pool, and the police chief last winter on the blizzard of 2011 personally came from down the street and cleared us with his snowblower because he knew i would be bizzy trying to keep up. i truly feel like i live in mayberry.

I don't shovel.... my number one requirement when I agreed to move to Chicagoland: DH does ALL snow removal. I have gone out and helped him when it was really bad. He does shovel or blow part way through if it's really bad and schedule allows.

You better watch out cookiemom will be moving nextdoor to you with this statement

With a big snowfall we try to do it periodically. Kids just got home and are happy and excited to do round one of the shoveling

We shovel every few hours, then come in for hot chocolate and warm up. We do our driveway and sidewalk and neighbor lady sidewalk.

Her adult son has a big plow and pays back the favor when we have a big snow.

I'm waiting until my DH gets home. :hides:

I was going to shovel today. I really was. I thought, 'I'll clean, do laundry, bake cookies, make dinner, shovel, fix myself up a bit for DH...' But I'm really not feeling the shovelling bit. :p

I just got in from doing it for the first time today. i will do it again after I put the kids to bed (**** hubby is of course away on holiday, and of course after buying $700 in GC to Lowes for a snow blower, they didn't have the one he wanted!). I may just go buy one, to hell with him!

Today's snow is so wet and heavy, so if I waited till it piled up, it would take forever to shovel. When the snow is lighter and fluffier, then I wait.

I shovel as needed. DH will send the night out there clearing our driveway. He is obsessed about having the cleanest driveway.
