I will admit, it is a stretch, but upon further pontificating, I can accept it. I saw the movie, loved it, and purchased the series, which I am watching now. It was said that the settlers in the outer world were poor, and there is a stark difference between the outer planets and those in the core. I mean, look at Earth. Drive into NYC, and look at the opulence and technology, then go to a South American village on a mountain. The difference would be incredible. Same here. The poor people went out and colonized these planets with nothing but the shirt on their backs and some basic tools. I am guessing that the western lifestyle, although very basic, just works.
Bottomline, I give credit to Mr Whedon for taking something beyond belief, and making it conceivable. :thumbsup:
