This really came as no surprise.

NFL Network is stating that "according to league sources, Sean Payton will officially file his appeal today. As part of the appeals process, Payton’s suspension will not begin Sunday as originally scheduled. Goodell said earlier this week that he planned an expedited hearing and subsequent ruling if Payton were to appeal."

They estimate this process will only take a week or two. How long do you think it will really take?
 
Goodell is just hell bent on punishing this man.

I can almost see him trying to make everything rough on Peyton even when the suspension is said and done with.

I think hes only trying to buy time to talk with potential replacements for the year like Parcells.. His mentor is a good person to take over for a year in my opinion.
 
I think it would be funny if this allowed them to re-rule and he was suspended for 2 seasons instead.

If that happened, lawyers would get involved, and I'm thinking Payton would have a pretty solid foundation to stand on.
