No, I'm not talking about my computer...

Policital Correctness is just getting way out of hand in this country.
I was listening to the radio yesterday on my commute home, and the DJs were talking about sexual harrassment in the workplace, and how drastically the attitudes have changed over the past 15 years.

Here are a few basic examples of how insane things have gotten lately:

  • A 6 year old boy was suspended from school for 1 month because he appeared nude in his bathroom window when the school bus arrived to pick him up.
He had a doctor's appointment that day, so his mother kept him home from school. While he was in the bath getting ready for the appointment, his sister made him think he was going to be late for school, so when the bus pulled up, he flagged it down from the bathroom window so it wouldn't leave without him.
Since the school district has a zero-tolerance policy towards sexual harrassment, they forced this 6 year-old child to sign a statement indicating that he understood the impact of his actions.

When you were 6, did you understand the "impact" of being naked?!?
  • A man said to a relatively new female employee "Hey, good lookin'!" He was promptly suspended from work for 20 days without pay when the female employee complained to her superiors that he sexually harrassed her with his comments.
  • A US Marine was working as an engineer in a civilian facility. Afraid of the possibility of being accused of sexual harrassment, he made it a point to not openly converse with other employees, instead concentrating on his work.
One day, he was pulled aside by one of his female superiors. He was told that a civilian female coworker had complained that, because he did not say "hello" to her when he passed her in a hallway, that he was creating "an unfriendly work environment" and that he was guilty of "reverse harrassment".
  • My personal favorite: A feminist group is lobbying to outlaw "Men being allowed to go to the bathroom standing up." Their reasoning is that, by standing up, it puts men in a superior position which, by extension, is degrading to women. Their logic: if women can't do it, men shouldn't be allowed to either.

Is it me or HAS THE WHOLE WORLD GONE INSANE?!?!?!?

that's ridiculous!

women just take things too far.

Someone says "hey good looking" to me I take it as a compliment

...

Now when someone calls me baby or honey or something it irks me, but I don't go to someone and say they've harrassed me...I just tell them I'm not their baby. It's not harrassment...it's usually habit or some thug trying to hit on me

A 6 year old does not understand that being naked is bad. It shouldn't be bad!

Please. When I was five, I ran around naked in front of company (granted, it was my cousins), and they didn't even blink.
When you were 6, did you understand the "impact" of being naked?!?
And I'm sorry, but how can feminists be so stupid? If guys can pee standing up, yay for them.

And I've had a co-worker that called everyone baby, sweetie, honey, etc. On my first day, he asked me if I cared, and I couldn't have cared less. That was just the kind of person he was. I mean, if someone ran around calling me **** all the time, then I'd get offended, but..really. Grow up, people.

Oh, and I'm not short. I'm vertically challenged

The argument was that sexual harrassment used to be if a man groped a woman, or referred to her in a blatently sexual manner, used the threat of negative response unless sexual favors were given.
Now, you can barely say hello without worrying about being branded.

The problem is that, if someone were to try to define sexual harrassment in a law, the definition would probably come under scrutiny, but no one in their right mind would ever speak out against such a thing.
Could you imagine what people would think of a man who was against a law against sexual harrassment?!?

Well, Dan, that must mean he's a perv and just trying to keep from getting in trouble... [/sarcasm]

I have one comment for pro PC types. Lighten up! Really! Imagine life with this whole "new speak!" It would be incredibly boring and tense with everyone keeping tabs on everyone else. Actually, go read 1984. Seriously. That book might just give you enough of a scare to consider not being such a PC-borg.

PC types will never be happy when one situation gets resolved they will find something else to **** about. They are striving for a perfect society which can never be reached. If this keeps up society will become a stagnant cesspool inevitably heading for destruction. People are individuals and each person needs to express themselves in their own way. Yes society can set a proper etiquette but this is not the way to do it. I am my own person and I know I am not perfect and I refuse to change my ideals or my beliefs to satisfy others! If you want me to be politically correct then give me a lobotomy!

Boone... is rambling. Please don't get me wrong I am not for chaos but I've been on my own for awhile and topics like these get me heated. I feel like society wants to bring me into the fold so that I may behave like **** sheep. Peace.

I suppose both extremes would be bad. I mean people being too sensitive would be wrong - but also people practicing cruelty. Where is the happy medium? I suppose the problem is that the definition of normal - as seen on both sides, is actually extreme.
