Back in *my* day, we didn't *have* trains...no siree, we had to *walk* everywhere...and you'd walk fer so long, yer feet would grow numb, and fall off, and there ya were, hobblin' along without feet tryin' to get where you're goin' - that's the way it was, and we *liked* it!

----------------------------
My knob tastes funny.

...and we LIKED it! We loved it! We couldn't get enough of it, hobbling around on our bloody stumps waiting at a station for a train that wasn't coming 'cause it didn't exist yet.

When I was younger, I had no idea what my grandmother was talking about when she said Frigidaire, since our refridgerator was made by GE.

My parents also had 8 track tapes, and they just loved to torture my brother and me with Neil Diamond. Then one day, when we were on our way to see our cousins, the 8 track player got hungry and ate that tape.....and there was much rejoicing between my brother and me...and much wailing and gnashing of teeth from my mother.

Does driving a car from Saturn make me an alien?

jh> my parents used to DISCO DANCE to the strains of the BEE GEES coming out of their HI-FI stereo. this went down in the basement, much to the delight of my sister and i laughing our ASSES off at the head of the stairs (and they thought we were SLEEPING, heh).

i actually do like the bee gees, you know

Yes. WE have a bar car on the train. Not all trains have them and thank God there are no smoking cars. There used to be a car that had no seats and just had the bar for the bar car. It's been around for many many years...maybe you just dind't know about it. That seatless car was around from about 1920 until last year when they finally retired those darned things...

I actually have a Sony Hi Fi that is a combination tuner and record player. I use that to drive a pair of 2 way EPI (Epicure) speakers (the ones with the passive radiators). All of this being part of a 4 speaker setup on my PC. Add a Cambridge soundworks 2 way on the front, and you have a sound system for your 'puter.

Outta this world!

Alright... this one will really date us!
With the World Series coming up, I got a frightening flashback.

Who remembers when relief pitchers used to ride those little bullpen golf carts out to the pitchers mound?

I remember the carts, wasn't that in the 80s?

As far as steroes go I still have a 275 Watt Kenwood Integrated Amplifier and a Kenwood Tuner from 1968. They proudly proclaim solid state on the front since that was a big deal at the time. They are big and very heavy.

^^^ I've recently found a company around here that still performs this, and I'm definatly looking into it... They seem to have alot of nice things, like butter, etc. if you need it.

hm, i missed this thread back in '01... must have been my "sabbatical"

i remember six of them, which means i'm "getting old".. i guess that's about right

my friend at home has glass milk bottle delivery every thursday, it's pretty cool but i think it's expensive

I get milk delivered in glass bottles... if you do the math right (buy enough bottles at a time, etc), it's the same as buying it at the grocery store. But I'm not comparing it to the 99-cent gallons you can sometimes get, I'm comparing it to the natural, no-hormone milk (not necessarily organic) because that's the kind of milk that gets delivered.

We also get butter delivered with our milk and it's the best butter I've ever had.
