which couponers online on the various websites, blogs etc have had the strongest impact on your couponing? both positive and negative? and why?


HCW was my first stop and worst experience to date. but i did meet my friend melissa there and we are still thick as thieves online years later even now. she isnt a super couponer, but she taught me gently how to tone it down a bit online. trust me, i am toned down from what i used to do. LOLOL

I spent a few months lurking on AFC and SD and never really contributed. I saw some of the nastiest snarkiest bullshit on those sites. but at least it was out in the open unlike most of it on HCW.

then WUC opened its doors. I joined a few months after the site opened. and saw it grow. nate engels , moonflower, mad, didie, amit, My online spousies Jenny and Jenni, shoppingfever/kim to name just a few taught me so much more, ecouraged me and supported me. I loved being a forum leader for CVS there. but I was ALONE in that job for a year, the second busiest forum on that site . I burned HARD CORE behind the scenes and stepped down. there are some politics there I do not agree with personally. but overall its a good newbie learning site. really the best there is out there.

Obviously there are folks here who have also had a HUGE HUGE impact positively for me. Barb being one, as always. My shopping buddy tjzsgrandma, Tazz and well just too **** many to name(mrspiggy, georgie, mrsmom, ernie, icoupon2, mrsmelton, hell just too many)

Barb is amazing - not only her couponing and Jewel knowledge, but sometimes these little tips she gives like leaving the change in the cup at the uscan when doing multiple transactions.

Sati, I think you are rather awesome too. I really like how you tell it like you see it.

Awww...shucks Sati! Thanks! I'm honored to be on your list! You rock, Barb rocks and all the other CW peeps who have welcomed me (Mrs. Piggy, Mrs.Mom, Mrs.Melton, Georgie, Imasaver...and lots more that I know I'm forgetting!) I really don't get around much LOL...I started when my aunt told me about SuperJill's site. What I learned from Jill really has changed my life. I lurked there for a long time before signing up and posting in the forum. I met one of my very best friends through Jill's site. She is a great friend (it was her that has been with me during all these trips to the hospital in the last month, has gone and got me medicine, gotten my papers - she's the BEST!)

Dealseekingmom was another site I would peek at in the beginning. My aunt always talked about Mashupmom, but I didn't start going there for probably a year? Now I'm there all the time too.

A girl we know who works at my Jewel told me about CW (although I think from what I gather her explanation of how CW got started and who runs it seems a bit off?), and I probably got flushed once or twice before I actually got up the nerve to start posting here :giggles: and now in 6 months I've gone from CW Noobie to Senior Member (thanks to Georgie's thread :lol:)

That's about it!

aww wow thank you. unfortunatly telling it like i see it has gained me a NEGATIVE "fan" club. LOL because apparently Iam abusive and trying to be a dictator online by speaking the truth and not honey coating everything.

i heard about you on another site myself actually. LOL someone mentioned you wayyy back. ok like a year? on cafemom of all places. i already knew about you though so there! ha.

naw your posts about jewel, the information and your very nice tolerance of a newbie jewel shopper when i bugged you at the store a couple times early on really made a difference. and my shopping buddy taking me to jewel for hands on "training" on how to do the deals, how jewel works, how to communicate with folks better there. LOL

i actually did learn a lot reading on Jills site too. but i disagree with some things she believes. so i stay away so as to not cause drama. i respect Jill a lot. but cannot agree on peelies. :snicker:

Well, Sati is the CVS queen - love seeing her weekly conquests. Barb was my hero for a long time, before I moved from Jewelland (sniff, sniff.) I still read Barb's posts as often as possible! Now that I'm out here in DC I like southernsavers.com. But CW remains my fave - I read and contribute to the Doms posts, and use them at my Safeway here.

Well, I'll get in and say that about everyone on here is great with all the sharing and caring. But will have to say Barb, is the one that got me into this mess. We met in the checkout line at the old CUB foods in Waukegan eon's ago.
And a special thanks, of course, to TAZZ, for this site cuz it's the best, bar none.

I couldn't sleep either...

3 years ago I wanted to start couponing and didn't know where to start. I did a bunch of yahoogroup searches for couponing groups and joined a group called howtoshopforfree where I learned the basics of CVS, Wags, Khols, etc. The list became more and more popular as Kathy/the owner was featured on t.v., but then the list started getting spam, people were taking emails from the list to spam others, etc. and now the list went to a forum site. The grocery deals in the past were more focused on the East Coast, so after awhile, I looked for places to help me with local grocery deals. Illinoisgooddealloop and chicagobargainhuntingmoms yahoogroups people helped me w/ local deals and helped me find CW. Mashupmom/Rachel helped me do my first Jewel deals.

I started on AFC which was great... Then Tracey lured me over... "To the Dark Side" :lol:.

CW is by far the best because of its community as a whole. I love you all!!! You have all impacted way more than my couponing. You have impacted my life and I am so truly greatful!

Of course I would say Tracey... Thanks for bringing me over. Thanks Barb for welcoming me right away and telling me that you too had thought about sending me a PM over there. Tazz for giving us this site.

But, CW is larger than life in its collective! Thank you all! Like Sati said... Too many to name!

*Gasp* I was always a deal shopper--target endcaps-and grocery store lost leader stuff--read a forum--cant remember the name--yikes--hung out there for a few years to read the target deals. Spent LOTS of time on scrapbooking boards and would follow links to random deals posted..Found fishing for deals that way--read taht for years until someone on my scrapbook board kept mentioning CVS deals, which led to AFC--I LOVED it there--when people migrated to WUC I hated it there, there were a few main posters who I couldnt stand reading, seemed like they lied and enhanced every deal ( why lie??) anyway...I was looking for more deals ( a junkie at heart) hung out a SD and then reporter20 answered my plea for a jewel or Chicago area grocery forum.

CW is the most comfortable forum I have spent time at

For forums?

I started at FW, when FW was actually good. :lol: I hardly ever go there unless there is a good cashback for staples or something. They then shut the doors to couponers.

Then there was DAGG. I'm really glad there was a DAGG. It showed me how people are scummy but put on a nicey happy face on the outside while talking about you, your family, your dh, your kids etc. behind the scenes. It taught me everything that I didn't want to be a part of, but there were posters there that I liked bunches. They told me "If you don't like it, start your own board." So I did. :snort:

I don't really participate in other forums now. So when people tell me about something going down somewhere I usually just beg for a link, because I have no idea what goes on anymore.

For peeps? Barb09 of course. Back when the Jewel peeps first started making their presence known she was raked over the coals many times a day. I still don't understand the hubbub about it. I knew some of the jewel peeps would filter out to the rest of CW, especially OT and we would get some new victims...errr.....posters. ;) Barb held on tight, even though she wanted to be done with the constant attacks and jabs. She could have easily walked away and did her thing elsewhere. I'm so glad she didn't and stayed. I have talked to her on the phone a few times and wished she lived closer - hell who am I kidding, I wished I LIVED CLOSER! I WANT A JEWEL!!!!!! :lol:

There are a bunch of other peeps that are my "home girls." Fiya, Dee, MrsMom, CookieMom, MommytoKris and a bunch of others. My new years resolution besides losing my fluff is to coupon more and get back into the swing of things. I got 4 of those monster shelving units in my garage and a pantry, so lets get STARTED!!!!

I started with SuperJill's couponing classes and followed her blog for quite some time. I love the deal postings on Sunday/Monday, but once I got into it, I was frustrated waiting that long for the UPC list because I felt I could figure my deals out on my own if only I had the information (UPC list). I bumped into LUVMY2PUGS at Jewel when I was shopping with my calculator in hand and she told me about CW. I'm so thankful she did!!! This site is awesome!:hiphip:
I also like MashupMom's emails. I don't visit the site much just because of time contraints, but I love the daily emails with blurbs. Some stuff that I hadn't seen because I hadn't been on CW for several days or stuff that doesn't usually end up here.
