I think I'm eating too much pasta.

Disclaimer - I did google first but just want to check in here too.

How do you make a baked potato in the microwave?

POKE IT FIRST

  • Basically it seemed to say cook it on high for 4-5 minutes on a paper towel.
  • Then cover it with a bowl for 4-5 minutes.
  • Eat.
Sound about right? Something I should do differently?

I pierce the skin with a knife or fork in a few spots before microwaving.

Oops, I think it did mention that. Wouldn't want an exploding potato.

Me three but just keep the potato on the plate. Just bake for 8-9 minutes for a large potato. If two large, I usually add another 3 more minutes.

I think it's very appropriate, considering your username, that you replied in my Nuked thread. :giggles:

That was tasty!

I topped it with some leftover broccoli and some shredded cheddar.

Yes, they're better in the oven but this was much quicker and it tasted really good.

Not to worry, I remembered to poke it!

IF you choose to nuke sweet taters, I cut mine in half lengthwise first, then put the cut side down on a paper plate (not styrofoam). It keeps the cut side from drying out. They take forever to microwave if left whole and the tips always get overdone with the middle not enough.

Then I put butter and brown sugar/cinnamon and pretend I'm at Outback!

Ooh that sounds good. Might have to put sweet potatoes on my shopping list soon!

I can make baked potatoes in the oven and it takes about an hour.
Turn oven on to 450, wash potatoes, poke em, double wrap in foil and bake for an hour. Remove potato, split open and put a pat of butter inside, wrap back up and cook 5-10 minutes. Yummy.

I poke like 4 holes in them, lightly coat them with olive oil and roll them in kosher salt then cook them for like 5ish minutes. The skin is a little crunchy.
Sometimes I cut them in half scoop out all of the insides mash with milk butter sour cream salt and pepper then spoon back into the shells cover with cheese and bacon and put in the oven for about 15 minutes on 400. FANTASTIC...but you would be better off with the pasta ;)
