Now what?

What finally helped my mom was a combo of us growing up & moving away and meditation & yoga. She used to listen to "relaxation tapes" basically cassettes with calming messages on them, if you google they are still around and in use (this is also just basically a form of meditation).

Drugs and alcohol works for me. :9:

Not since last night...:pms:

I think my head is going to explode soon from withdrawal.

:woot: WTG!!! :hiphip: Keep up the good work Joy! :flowers:

When my FIL quit, he sucked on hard candies all the time which seemed to help.

I was thinking more along the lines of smacking random strangers who smell like cigarettes on the elevator. This isn't going well

When my friend was quitting she wanted to hang around peeps who smoked. She said it helped her cravings. :9: Of course she only lasted a couple months and now smokes again. She was even on Chantix. She's tried several times over the years. It drives her crazy that years ago her DH quit cold turkey without a problem. She didn't even know he quit for a couple days. MEN!!! :gah:

But if it makes you feel better, go ahead and smack them. You can claim temporary insanity. :flowers:

I went through the same things..........all the tests (and bills to prove it) with no answers. :surrender:

Good luck.

I did do some research and there's muscular conditions that result in pain in the chest that doesn't have anything to do with the heart............just spasms in that area. I dunno though. :9:

costocondritis?

My grandmother had that, and my sister has had it happen too. With my sister, she ended up having chest pains that came and went for a couple of days and then I ended up taking her to the ER at 4am because she was in so much pain. Part of it was anxiety related (her husband was deployed at the time).

Some days I just want to smack random strangers (whether they smell or not).

TAGLINE NOM!!!

Dh and I quit several times. Most recently, I quit around the time I got pregnant again this fall. I had wanted to quit, but basically woke up one morning and didn't want a cigarette anymore. So maybe have a baby?

My parents quit smoking eons ago, probably before I was born. My Dad quit cold turkey w/o difficulty. My mom satisfied her cravings with hot cocoa.

Good luck Joy!!! :hiphip: I agree that being around stinky smokers helps me not want one. Only if they smelled like stale cigarettes tho. Actively smoking smokers made it harder.

Mary! :huggy: Good luck I have no advice but hope you feel better or get solid answers soon!!

Hi guys. At the risk of offending anyone I would suggest self-reflection on whether this could be anxiety attack.

That was my first thought. My husband has chronic chest pain. He has had numerous tests (cat scans, xrays, you name it), numerous doctors, and even went to the Mayo clinic. The doctors know, and I know, that my husband's pain is caused by his severe anxiety (runs in his family too). My husband won't believe it, even though his chest pain started in the same 6 month period that he got laid off after almost 15 years in with his company, his mother died, and his sister was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer. I have friends who have gone through the same thing, but have recognized it for what it was, and have since gotten better. If this is a possibility for you, I would look into it, especially if the doctors can't find anything. I don't mean this to offend, since I obviously would have no idea what is causing your pain. I am only offering a possibility, since the test results are not not producing answers for you.

Can I assume this was a fully accredited hosp?

They ran enzyme blood tests which all came back negative?

Do you smoke?

Are you on birth control pills or patch?

Was this your first EKG?

Have you been drinking more caffeinated drinks lately?

i can't do this :pout: ready to jump out of my skin. I can't wait to get out of here. This is so stressful :9:

My first thought was anxiety too. When I was a teenager I used to get chest pains. I think they ran down the top of my arm too. After many tests they said it was anxiety. Someone else mentioned costoconjitis (not sure of spelling but that sounds like something else I was thinking about). When I used to teach public junior high school I did lunch duty. One time I got hit in the chest (by a special ed student) with a piece of fruit. I think the term they used might have been the costroconjitis (sp??). Anyway, it was painful and I used to have to take high doses (like 4 tablets) of ibuprofen for awhile. Hope you feel better soon.

You can do it! I quit 7 years ago, when I found out I was pregnant with my son. It was the hardest hing I ever did, but I never miss it now. Never. If fact the smell makes me sick to my stomach now, lol. It sucks now, but it will suck less & less, and you will be so happy in the long run! Right now your dopamine level is dropping, and you are feeling depressed, so find something that makes you feel better. Mine was candy. I ate tons of candy, and got through it.
