New twitter version/layout: your thoughts?

For me it doesn't even work in Firefox 10 unless I run Firefox in safe mode and then it still doesn't display right. I installed Firefox after removing it last year because of memory leaks to try it out again. I ran it for a couple weeks and junked it again. IE and Opera serve me just fine.

Other than that I do like the new Twitter. I rarely use it since I have a widget on my homepage I post from and also have Seismic installed on my desktop and Android.

I have firefox 10, and I can see Twitter very well.

And I must say it looks gorgeous, a lot better than the old one before the switch. More focus to each section.

The best part isn't even the profiles, instead, twitter makes a GREAT homepage:

Had this new version for a while now, personally prefer it to the old layout. Also using FF10 and don't have any problems with it.

I don't care for how the DM's are now hidden
I'll assume DM is Direct Messages, :D
Yeah, that annoyed me a bit but at least they have a number displayed for the unread direct messages that you have, ;)

People might not find it at first glace, but it's been used mostly to send a lot of spam to people. ( third-party websites that sends messages to their followers once follow )
eg. "Have you seen what this person is calling you over the Internet (link inserted)"

I'm sure a regular person might click the link to see what someone is saying about 'em when it's really a fake :(

I think you need to get Javascript, and other scripts for FireFox. A lot of websites have flash, and javascript on them. So, I would start downloading them for firefox. How? Download the scripts through firefox, not on stupid IE, or lesser known Opera.

You should not be having this problem.

oh I can't stand those!! I get them all the time since I go on following spurts..lol

I use the DM's more the SMS for some people, I use the web twitter.com and the client on my phone.
The DM's are just a bit hidden and don't update like they use to :( oh well.. it's a free site right ;)

Thanks for those words of wisdom. I would have never thought of that.

Just to add Twitter worked fine before I removed it last year. When I gave Firefox another another try with version 9.0 Twitter worked. The upgrade to 10 broke it. Interesting enough if I use safe mode it works.

I found the problem I just don't know how to fix it. 3 days searching Google hasn't give me the answer I need.

I had it narrowed down to 2 problems. One was the JIT compiler. I disabled that in about:config and Twitter still didn't work. I then went back to safe mode and everything worked. I created a new profile with all addons and extensions disabled. Didn't work. Back in safe mode all the way and Twitter worked. So the problem is with the default skin. My searches don't lead to a way of either removing the default skin or repairing it. Installing other skins don't fix the problem either because they all depend on the default which on my install is corrupt.

There is a default skin that Firefox uses called Strata. In safe mode a more basic skin is used and the default is disabled.

I have since fixed this problem. I have to override the fonts used on Twitter. New Twitter uses Helvitica Neue as the default font. I have that font installed and it works in PS and all other apps. For some reason it doesn't render with Firefox on Twitter. Now this shouldn't be a problem because there are fallback fonts in the Twitter CSS. For whatever reason Firefox does not use the fallback which is Arial. Bug in Firefox more than likely.

So problem solved by forcing Firefox to use Arial on Twitter,
