I decided the whole family is going to try cross country skiing.my daughters are 5 and 8,I have rented equipment before but now I want to buy some gear for all of us.does anyone have advice on good brands for kids and adults, and good places to buy them besides play it again sports.thank you any advice is greatly appreciated

IDK about any stores 'south of the border' but the ski rental shop across from Cascade mountain in portage WI sells used gear.

I got my x-country skis from LLBean. They're a bit pricey, but I love the guarantee on their products. I had a zipper fail on an LLBean tent after using it for a number of years. We took the tent back, and they refunded our full purchase price with no issues whatsoever.

You could also try REI; they have a similar guarantee. I don't know much about local ski shops though.

Thank you, I will try looking online thru them.
