Looks like the steelers may let Wallace go if someone offers him a big contract (he's a restricted free agent) because they are already way over the salary cap. Any team who would sign him would have to give up a first round draft pick to Pittsburgh for him. Anyone think it'd be worth it for your team to do this? I think teams like New England who have low first round picks should jump on this opportunity.

Wallace to New England would be perfect! They are in desperate need of a deep threat and he may be the best deep threat in football. Imagine Tom Brady throwing to Welker, Wallace and Gronk next year. That is unstoppable!

Wallace would be nice. Comparable WR's you would be looking at choosing at that point would be someone like Alshon Jeffery, Michael Floyd, etc. With Blackmon gone, I think you'd be hardpressed to argue that Wallace isn't way above that level.

My thoughts exactly.. no one you can get that late in the first is as good as Wallace and he's only 26.

Yup. Lock him up for like a 5 year contract and then let the chips fall. His contract ends when he is 31-32 so he can either be over the hill and then go to a different team that needs a productive, experienced WR or sign him again if he doesn't show any major wear and tear.

It now seems like the steelers may be able to hold on to him. They've restructred the contract of several of their big name players. That would hurt their offense so much if they couldn't afford to keep him.

I know they've been trying to restructure alot of deals to get under the cap, but I still think they have work to do.. they aren't out of the woods yet

He defiantly isn't going to be back with the steelers next year. They won't be able to match any offer that he is going to receive.

He's really shown promise and definite speed while being in the NFL. I don't think the Steelers want him as bad as the other teams need him. All I know is he's going to get paid for some years to come.

Yeah much agreed with everybody above, anyone with 2O or worse should really pick him up. Has shown lots of promise, and is well worth the investment. Also if someone jumps the quickest, he might just bite right away. Where do you think him as a player would want an offer to come from?

I think all players want an offer to come from a team that is a contender. But I don't know if he would just take the biggest contract, or a really good contract with the chance at a Super Bowl right away.

I know if I was a player I would take a moderately sized pay cut if it meant I had a chance to win a Super Bowl in the near future.

I would say a lot of players would take that chance because in reality, YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME (cough cough herm edwards quote). Don't players also receive a bonus if they win the Super Bowl? I thought they did.

Yeah, but it's not that big compared to their contract. I think it's $80k for winning and $40k for losing. The Pro Bowl has a bonus too. $50k for winning and $25k for losing I think.
