I am using 4oz Rubbermaid Take Along containers for storing baby food. I'm having a difficult time coming with a quick way to label them. I WAS using post-it tabs to do it but when I have 60+ containers, it's a pain to write each one out. Currently I'm putting 9 of the same in a freezer bag and lableing the bag but as I use them, it gets really messy and disorganized in my freezer.

I came up with this great idea to make 2x2 tags for them, laminate them and use glue dots to stick to each one and I could re-use them. GREAT....except that when the glue dots freeze, they come off of the containers. I'm getting so frustrated with this. I may just have to buy the Ball jars.

I thought I would check here first to see if anyone has any suggestions.

No easier to tag ball jars.

Use a whiteboard marker to number them. 1 2 3 4 5 6 and so on. Then you just need a list of what food is what #. The number will wash off when you wash the container.

I thought about doing some time of numbering system too unfortunately, it would be too much for DH to get used to, lol. I thought of making lables the size of the metal lid and laminating them so I could reuse them but I hate to put out more money for containers since I have about 60 of the rubbermaid ones. By the time I come up with something I'm happy with, she'll be eating like a big girl.

I use a old method piece of paper of what it is and date one piece of scotch tape on both ends. i.e white paper size of a notebook line, carrots 1/13/13. You could use an index card. Easy to use and cost effective. Cons could get torn off. I have 2 upright freezer so might not work for you. If you label before you freeze it stays on better.

Don't know if this will help....but I use Blue painters tape to label plastic containers for the freezer. Sticks great, easy to peal off. But, you have to write each one out.

I heard painters tape works. What I'm trying to avoid is writing 60+ of them out month after month. MAKING the food isn't too bad but labeling sucks. I guess I'll just suck it up a couple of more months.

When I made baby food, I froze them in ice cube trays, pop them out once froze and have 30 or so cubes in one ziploc bag, write on one bag.

I don't have kids that can/will help. I've tried the ice trays too. I have 3 of those and 3 of the silicone ones from the baby bullet. I use those too but for just one fruit or veggie. I like using the rubbermaid ones because I mix the food and preparing it is one step. I suppose I could premix the food and freeze them in the trays. I'm done whinning.

Just use the numbers and put the list on the freezer for DH to see. Why should you do so much work just to make it that much easier for DH.

I'm happy to make the vegetable and fruit baby food, but I just bought a bunch of the Earth's Best that has the meat in it. A case of 12 is on sale $15/2 instead of $10.99.

ebates is giving 6 percent back, shipping is free with shoprunner

each jar was about $0.60, so not the best, but it was delivered to the daycare and I didn't have to take the boys out shopping.

I did the ice cubes in a bag method. I just labeled the bags with masking tape and Sharpies.

I never froze mixes because my kids were capricious and would suddenly decide they didn't want one component or another. Then my DD decided she didn't really like baby food and wanted table food at around 7 months.

I don't label..... Cook/blend/freeze and then they get what they get..... I pull out peas for breakfast well then peas it is.... I freeze in cupcake trays since there are 2 eating 1 cupcake size plus some rice/oatmeal cereal to thicken after heating is about perfect for the 2 of them. I just toss all the frozen food in Ziploc freezer bags.
