So we have a new puppy on trial from a shelter and he had just started coughing. the woman gave me antibiotics as I still wanted to take the puppy home. My question is when he is coughing most of the time it is flem. however after he eats a treat or piece of food he seems to throw that up in liquid form. At what point is there a need for concern?

Honestly, my point of concern would be...I would not bring a sick unknown animal into my house. They can transfer many disease's. My dog had kennel cough once and he never threw up. It's going to be difficult bonding with the dog when he is sick.

We brought our rescue dog home and soon thereafter found he had kennel cough. Our neighbors father is a vet. He assured us that this was not unusual. He told us to go to the store and find some over the counter cough medicine and give it to him in a dropper. That did the trick! Hope everything works out.

The dog was on a 10 day hold prior to be released. and was in a home. The vomiting is somewhat normal because when you look it up it says they can vomit white foamy mucus which is what it is except after he eats and then it is colored food or treat. And Kennel cough is not unusual for dogs that come from rescues. Thanks brownie I may have to do that.
