People's relationship with others at work can be viewed from different angles. To some, they see nothing wrong in being friends with colleagues at the workplace while others always decide to keep things formal at the workplace. How do you relate with others that work at same place?

When you are employed to work in a corporate company, you will definitely be in a working relationship with your fellow colleagues whether you like it or not. You may decide not to socialize outside your work and that's completely fine.

Cooperating to get the work done is fine and should be encouraged in the workplace. The question is do you socialize with your colleagues outside the workplace or everything ends in the workplace?

I have a good relationship with my fellow workers in the company where I used to work. It's always good to be friends with your co workers in a professional way in order to have your respect.

I always have this mindset that no one at your workplace is really your friend. Everyone is looking for an opportunity to take your position, so you need to be very careful how you deal with them. Get to work, do your job and go home.

I work as a cleaner in my workplace, so I'm always friendly with almost all of the workers because I have access to all of their offices.

The nature of your job means that you can't afford not to be friendly and in good relationship with workers. If you are not, they may give bad review on your job and you might lose your job.

It seems like you have had a bad experience with being too friendly with your some of your fellow workers? What could have happened that make you feel this way towards having sort of relationship with any of them?

I try to be nice to everyone, but I don't try to be friends with everyone either. There are a few coworkers that I could see myself hanging out with outside of the workplace though, since we have similar interests and we get along well. When I worked at my previous job I hung out with a few of my coworkers and I haven't seen them in a while. We used to go play laser tag and arcade games at our local bowling alley. (I'm not much of a bowler...)

I work from home, I have been working from home for a long time, therefore, I do not have to deal with people face-to-face (normally I do not use video calls with clients). I have good relationships with clients and have experienced issues only for few times.

This was practically how it was with me during the lockdown as a result of the pandemic of coronavirus. Seriously, sometimes dealing with people can be very difficult and frustrating. It's more peaceful when you work alone.

Working alone can be peaceful, but some works need a group discussion, therefore, you will have to communicate with people. Even when you have to work in tandem with other people it is easier to work online compared to offline. There are a lot of tools that have made it easier to work online.

Yes, that's very correct. I was betrayed by one of my supposed colleague friend whom I never knew was looking at taking over my spot in the office. I told him a secret but withheld some part of it which if I had told him everything, I would have been sacked.

I currently work from home myself and even though I work alone at home, the people I deal with online when it comes to work and such are people who I tend to get on with quite well.

I always feel when you have clients and you have a great relationship with them, things tend to run smoothly.

Being in a good relationship with your clients is far better as far as I am concerned. One important thing is being able to understand everything about them and tailor how you communicate with each of them.

Unfortunately, working online isn't for everyone. I have known so many people who thought it's something they would be able to do but when the reality kicked in, they knew it wasn't as easy as they had imagined it.
