Finally. Those who spew hate won't be tolerated, at least where fair & balanced actually means something. CNN fired Rich Sanchez & now NPR fired Juan Williams.

NPR Fires News Analyst After Remarks About Muslims
by The Associated Press

WASHINGTON October 21, 2010, 10:49 am ET

Longtime news analyst Juan Williams, who has written extensively on race and civil rights, has been fired by NPR after saying on the Fox News Channel that he gets nervous when he sees people in Muslim garb on an airplane.

NPR issued a statement late Wednesday saying his contract as a senior news analyst was being terminated after Williams' comments Monday on "The O'Reilly Factor."...

Now if Fox actually fired someone for being a hateful bigot, I'd be shocked enough to vote Republican.

Every time I see a woman in "muslim" garb, the only thought that goes through my head in the summer time is "Man, she must be sweltering under that!"

But back to the OP, glad they are starting to understand how some people can incite others thinking.

I disagree. I get nervous too. There are still very dangerous people out there.

Do you get nervous when you see people who look like this?

If we polled 100 random people taking an airplane flight today and asked the above question -- does it make you nervous to see others get on a flight dressed in Muslim clothing -- what do you think the answer would be? If we specifically said - men in Muslim clothing between the ages let's say of 20 to 30? What do you think the responses would be? Would you personally be nervous? Would your significant other? Would you be nervous for your child? Should a person be fired from their job for saying that that would make them nervous? That is the question. I was not trying to be offensive -- I was trying to get real. I personally would be nervous. When I board a plane (which is not too often, as most of the time I am at Jewel :)) -- but when I do board a plane -- I do look to see who is around me and who is on the entire plane. Many of my family members are in the military and they remind me that it is STILL not a safe world. So-- in my opinion (and only have time for this since there are no great deals at Jewel today) -- I don't think anyone should be fired for expressing their opinion that it makes them nervous for certain folks to board the plane with them. Pure and simple. And I would love to hear others opinions.

Well -- to be honest -- I am aware that we have enemies.....both foreign and domestic. And if you do some research you might discover that there are those that believe Oklahoma City -- which was blamed on Tim McVay -- but he worked -- from the records -- with a fellow of Mid-Eastern descent -- who was never identified (but we know he existed from the rental truck records) - so while I feel safer from the threats of domestic terrorism -- I try to stay aware of all threats....as should everyone.

Does that tin foil hat improve reception when using your cell phone?

Well on other happy news, I work about 2 blocks from the old WTC and next to the NYSE. On Tuesday I was handed about 200 pages of things that I have to know what to do for my floor in case we get hit again. Not just by planes, but anthrax, bomb, biological agent, dirty bomb etc etc etc.

I didn't get to the part of what to do in case I see someone dressed in muslim garb. But when I do, I'll tell you what they need us to do.

But he did not say that he gets nervous when he sees males 20-30 in Muslim garb on a plane. He said when he sees anyone in Muslim garb.

Also, do people really think that someone who is planning to hijack a plane is going to wear traditional garb? They are going to try to fit in and look as American as possible. Terrorists are trying to blend in, they do not want to be caught. So the people that everyone is afraid of are probably just very devout religious people trying to live their lives. You might as well be afraid of orthodox Jews and women wearing ridiculously long culottes. (actually I am serious about the culottes, no one in their right minds wears those)
