Even though I am a huge San Jose Sharks fan, Pavel Datsyuk is easily my favorite hockey player. Most underrated played and he is also in my opinion the best stick handler in the league. He is truly someone special and magical to watch. Datsyuk is hard to knock off the puck and rarely ever loses the puck yet look how often he takes the puck from others almost effortlessly. Datsyuk is sick with the puck often turning opposing players inside out anywhere on the ice.

Who are your guy's favorite hockey players currently playing in the NHL?

Sidney Crosby, but he's been hurt for so long. He's so fun to watch when he plays. Makes big plays in crucial moments of the game.

I agree with the OP, Dats for sure! He is really gifted and knows where to be whether he has the puck or not. And the connections he has with Zetterberg, Lidstrom and Holmstrom is amazing too, he knows how to utilize all of them (not saying that he's a one man show).
He's a big player in Detroit's 23 home game winning streak (that ended today against the Canucks)

My favorite current player in the NHL is Patrice Bergeron. My favorite teams is the bruins and I think he's their best player, aside from maybe Thomas. I like Thomas until he started opening his mouth and putting himself ahead of the team, but I won't dwell on that.

Patrice is my favorite player more so because of his character than his ability, even though he's really good. He's always been a respected player and does a lot for charity and visits kids in hospitals a lot. He's also a good leader on the Bruins to younger players like Seguin and Lucic.

My favorite alltime hockey player right now is Alexander Ovechkin, just the way he plays. I mean it looks like he is having the time of his life out there and that's how hockey should be played. Not to mention his shot in my opinion can be at times one of the best in the league.

I'm going to say Phil Kessel. A homer pick for sure as a Leafs fan, but he's an exciting player when he his speeding down the ice with the puck. His breakaway speed is really something to watch and he's capable of scoring some incredible goals as well.

Jake Gardiner, yeah I'm a leafs fan, and I think this kid has the potential to be the best d-man in the league.

He can be very very good, just scratching the surface and he's already a pretty good player. His offensive potential is high and his defense will get better over time as well. His skating is special though, you don't see many skaters like him.

Pavel Datsyuk is my favorite player, this guy knows where to move the puck between the defenders and score. I believe he has by far the best pck handling I've ever seen. Go Red Wings!

Although I'm not a huge NHL fan I've always been a huge fan of Mark Messier. I remember I use to play and a hockey game on my Sega and I'd always choose the Rangers, some how that stuck.

^Though I do have respect for Messier, I heard that he was just absolutely terrible for the Canucks.
He bombed as a Canuck, and recently, he had a dispute about his contract.
Again, with no disrespect meant at all, he was a great player, but just not in the eyes of any Canucks fans.
