I know some of you hated subtitles because it's kind of annoying watching and reading at the same time. But it has benefit to those who don't understand the language. I personally love subtitles especially when I'm watching Hollywood movies because it helps me to enhance learning the language. English is not my native language but I can read and write English it's just I need to be more proficient and learns new words. I'm so happy whenever I discover new words by watching movies.

How about you do you like subtitles or not?

Yes,I don't want to watch a movie without a subtitle. It really helps me to improve my English. And understand their vocabulary quickly. When I watch without a subtitle and i don't understand them because of thier language fluency, I'll say "Huh? What did she/he say?I'll just pause the movie and repeat the scene haha.

I got used to it. I do love foreign movies, Chinese, japanese, Thai, korean... I am more annoyed if the movie I am watching was already dubbed by a local language. Like it more hearing their actual voices, its not a problem to me unless I am not wearing any eyeglass then I will be totally annoyed for sure.

Definitely yes! It is very useful. Specially when you can't understand the accent of the actor or the language that are being used in the movie. Just imagine an asian movie being watched in western countries. Subtitles does the job on that.

It completely depends. English isn't my native language so I'm used to subtitles because my country always plays English movies and puts subtitles in my language onto them. So, they don't really bother me.

Also, some movies have really bad audio or the actors don't pronounce the words fully, a bit mumbly and it's hard to be 100% what was said. I feel like in that sort of movies, subtitles are actually really nice because it's easier to keep up.

But overall, I don't use subtitles in around 80% of the movies that I watch. I'm often too lazy to.

Subtitles are very important in a movie especially when the movie is made in another language. Subtitles help us to understand the movie better, I would not understand a foreign movie without it!

Totally agree, Asian films are now being appreciated in western countries because of subtitles. I appreciate those movies that have subtitles on it and not being dubbed in another language so you would feel the authenticity of the films. Kudos for the invention of subtitles. :)

That's exactly what I'm telling about. We can now enjoy films from other countries without the hindrance of language barrier. It is much easier now to have a glimpse on the culture of other countries thru their movies/films.

It actually depends on the movie, I usually don't like watching with a subtitle on it by the fact that it hurts my eyes and my neck as well. Sometimes I do add subtitles to some movie with a more deeper of thinking or have more deeper story, which I can;t really understand if they do talk fast enough.

Yes I do like subtitles. I like watching foreign films and most commonly it is paired up with subtitles. I love the fact that some subtitle does the movie justice when it comes to the translations. I have noticed that sometimes lines are screwed up because it did not stay true with the original lines of the movie. Sometimes it has add libs that is way of the given sentence structure of the movie lines.

In our cable tv, there is a channel that shows Chinese movies which are dubbed in our Filipino language. I sometimes watch it and I truly enjoy if the movie is good. There is another channel that shows Indian movies but it is not dubbed and the viewer had to suffice with the subtitles. I had watched that channel several times but I was not able to finish one movie because I was annoyed by the subtitles. Sometimes I had to read the long line that I fail to see what was happening on the scene.

No, not really. However, though, the Italian comedy "Life is Beautiful" was still watchable. Anyway, the other foreign film I like, Das Boot, was dubbed.

I don't mind it. Most people especially english speaking people dont like subtitles because most of the movies they grew up watching that make it big time are already made in english but as time goes on i'm noticing a lot of foreign films and series are making it to our screens and I think its pretty ignorant if you don't want to watch a great movie or series because you have to go through the effort to read words lol. fantastic series and films like 'narcos' 'el chapo' 'train to busan' 'the raid' and many more are out there. its a shame not to watch these i think.

When it comes to having subtitles in movies, it's something that I love so much because I love reading it whenever I watch.

It helps me to focus on the movies 100% and never to miss out on any conversation that took place in the movie.

Reading and watching when you understand the language being spoken could be annoying, but it helps where the actor/person speaking speaks very fast.
