Compliments of the season to every member of the forum, I'm glad to be here and I want to ask this question about how comfortable you feel watching movies that have got scary scenes at nights. In as much as we can say that we are adults that have outgrown situations where we fear after watching a movie, I'm afraid that I don't feel comfortable sleeping after watching scary movies.

So, I want to know if I'm the only one on this lane of being scared after scary movies at nights or do we have others here?

You're not the only one, lol! I'm 45 and yeah, sometimes they get to me! I saw Halloween when I was around 8 or 9. And no joke I had nightmares and I was genuinely afraid of Michael Myers until I was well into my 30's, lol! But now I think it's more of the atmosphere than the movie itself. What I mean is since I've been married for 22 years I'm used to people being around. There's always someone in the house. So when my wife takes our kids back to NYC and I'm stuck here because of work, the silence is eerie. Add a zombie or ghost flick and your mind runs with it, lol!

I don't also feel comfortable after watching a horror movie at night, it is the worst if your watching it alone, but with friends it is some times fun, looking at your friends get scared too makes me lough sometimes haha

I don't have a problem watching scary movies at night I actually like horror movies what I don't like is demon stories. I'm not comfortable those horror movies that involves demon especially if it's a true story that a person has been possessed by a demon. Sometimes after watching it I still hear the voice of demon when I'm sleeping that scares me a lot. I don't mind a scary movie that has a ghost, psycho or other genres of horror but if it's about demon I'm not gonna be able to sleep at night.

So what would you say the difference is between a ghost and a demon? They're both supernatural. They both (well I can say this about a demon. not all ghosts are harmful) want to harm human beings. IMHO, I can compare them like this: zombies are undead, so are vampires, especially Dracula. They're different yet the same. That's how I see the difference between ghosts and demons. BTW, I agree with you 100%! The Exorcist and the Omen movies scared the hell out of mean. Plus, as a Christian I believe demons exist. Scary stuff!

Lol! Let me add, at night during a HUGE thunderstorm! That happened to me one night back in the 80's. My friends and myself were watching Return of The Living Dead (all at our separate homes) and all of a sudden the power went out just when the zombies appeared, lol!

Your reply just made me remember back in those days my friends and I finished watching the vampire series and the thing happened that three of us were to sleep in a bed. You need to see how everyone was trying to be the one that will sleep closer to the wall as a result of fear from watching the movie.

Hahaha! When I first did this I stayed up all night pretending to be asleep closing my eyes real tight, since I was afraid that a ghost will just showed right into my face once I open my eyes!

Then I proved to myself that I am just acting all strong whenever I am with my friends watching horror movies haha! I thought I overcome my childhood fear already but turns out not yet. So NO. I am not comfortable watching horror movies alone especially at night.

Lol! But what if the ghost was lying NEXT to you! Lol! I totally feel what you mean! I'm in my 40's and when my wife went to NYC with my son for two weeks to visit her mother, I was a wreck! Add to that we just moved into a new apartment and one block over is the zoo, two blocks up a large Civil War cemetery... Lol! Yeah, man, my mind was running!

I don't actually like or totally love to watch horror movie at night, when I'm only alone. I myself is a fan of all horror or any gore movies as well. I just don't like watching it on a dark( lights off room), alone.

I'm actually the opposite of you, haha. I absolutely love to watch scary movies at night! The only ones that I can't do are the weird paranormal ones... those just freak me out and I keep feeling uneasy. Other than that, there's no problem.

The scary/horror genre of movies is probably my top choice though. I just enjoy a good scare but only if it's done well. Not those cheesy, predictable plots. Those are a big no. I love creative stories where you don't see the events coming - that's what makes a good scary movie.

I'm a Christian too. Yes, they're both supernaturals but demons can do anything they're more powerful than the ghost. Actually, I haven't seen a ghost that's why I'm not afraid of them though I do believe that they exist. I think ghosts are not harmful they're just roaming around. I've had a bad experienced watching demon movies I forgot the title but I haven't been able to sleep because I was really scared I can even hear voices I had to pray deeper that time just makes the voices go away. It's a traumatic experience so I won't watch it at night again. I've watched the news saying that demons can enter your mind if you're weak so it's freaking scary.

Well, for me (and I RARELY discuss my religious beliefs) I believe what the Bible says: When you're dead you're absent from this world. Either Heaven or Hell. So I don't believe in ghosts per set, but I do believe that they ARE demons, lying spirits. I do agree with what you said about "weak minds". I think that's the main reason God forbids divination. Our minds are like old radios or TV's. We are set to receive a certain frequency in our physical word. Once we attempt to receive messages from the spirit world we are able to be tricked. My mom once played with a Ouija board, and I lie to you not our house became haunted. This was in my teens. Years later in my 30's my best friend who I hadn't seen for years mentioned it. I was like " Wow, you knew that"? He said, "Yeah, that's why my mom never let me spend the night", scary lol

Actually, I feel really comfortable seeing horror movies at night because the horror movies are my favorites. My wife doesn't like it so, I must watch it alone but this is not a problem because I like it very much.

Yes! I do like watching scary movies at night. It adds excitement specially in the wee hours when it is all dark and quiet. The weird thing is, I also want to watch these kinds of movies alone. It's kinda practical for me in the sense because the people in our house tend to hit a lot whenever the get too scared or anything funny.

Personally, I prefer watching horror movies only at night, say around 11:00 pm. The reason why I prefer watching such movies at this odd time is to allow me experience all the fright effects used in producing the movie.

I can say that I don't scare easily, maybe that's why I enjoy watching these movies around such time in order to be able to feel all effects used in it.

Recently, I just finished watching one horror demonic possession series movie called "The Exorcist". It's all about fall arch angel possession in which they want to overthrow the Christian church and set up a world full of demon integration with man's soul.

That's an awesome show! I watch that and Lucifer! It's strange that two shows are about similar subject matter. Yet one is serious and one is a comedy, lol

I have watched the Lucifer as well but I didn't really enjoy it that much like I did with The Exorcist. Just like you said, Lucifer is more like a comedy and little action but if you had watched The Exorcist, you would notice how intense the movie is especially when the Rev. Father Thomas and Marcus Keane were delivering Cassy from the grip of a demon possession in the name Pazuzu. It's was **** scary but hell it's what I hoped for.

I'm so much brave watching horror films at night. But in one condition.
I should have a company.
Honestly, some horror films can freak us out. Giving us this scary feeling that it might also happen in real life and the person involved is us. But I can't also deny that watching horror films at night has a different thrill in feeling. Something that is scary but you enjoy.

You are absolutely right in saying that such horror movies have the propensity of freaking the viewers out because they sure do. I think I could still remember one horror movie that I watched far back, it's not a series movie but it sure as hell dealt with me in humiliating me with fears. I think the name of the movie is Hell Raiser. I'm seriously doubtful I would entertain watching that movie ever again.

About having company while watching horror movies at night, as long as the person keeps his or her cool without screaming, I'm good having such company if not I prefer watching alone, and I don't fancy watching horror in the morning or afternoon time.
