Do you ever go through a phase where you are unhappy with your looks?

I typically go to any CheapCuts place for a haircut. Always have a coupon and usually leave similar to the way I went in. No big changes.

I am starting to wonder if it pays to get a good haircut. I kills me to even think about spending $45+ on a haircut. What if I hate it and wasted all that money?????

BUT

I am thinking of going back to some type of bangs and I am not sure if CheapCuts (or whatever) will do a good job.

I am looking at Groupon Deals for haircuts/styles and conditioning treatments.

Any recommendations? How do you find a good salon?

Yes, I am often unhappy with my looks...mostly due to weight...I keep trying to lose and I never lose enough...FWIW I to go to the great clips places...I have had HORRIBLE haircuts where they have been so bad I have had to go to a "salon" to get them fixed...I think it would be nice to treat yourself once in a while or if you can AFFORD it to do it often...good luck w/your new hairstyle...I'm sure someone here will have good advice on "where to go"

I'm one of those people who feels guilty about spending money on myself. Even with that, I think it's worth it, once you've found a stylist who you like/you can trust to do what you want. I don't color my hair or have other beauty treatments done, and I try to stretch it out to 6 weeks between cuts. So I'm ok with a $40 cut plus a nice tip because I imagine how much other women must spend per month on pampering/grooming and I know I'm on the low end of that scale.

Instead of just randomly picking a salon to try, go up to a woman who has a cut you really like and ask who does her hair. When I wanted to go with a pixie, I was fortunate to find a local stylist who specializes in them... but I wouldn't have found her on my own.

EXACTLY!!!!

My DH would tell me to do it in an instant. I just have a hard time justifying that much money spent on a haircut. But he would say if it makes you feel better......

One of my good friends used to cut my hair and it was always perfect. Then she moved away and we lost touch. I found another person and she closed her shop. UGH I hate finding someone new.

ITA look at people with great cuts and ask. I'm right now in the middle of either trying to grow it out or going back to the lady that sometimes makes it right sometimes she makes it just so. Til I decide I'll stick with my mop head for a while longer. I actually colored it this morning because I have to see a bunch of people i know tonight so I didn't want to look like a mess.

I have gone up to women and asked where they get there hair cut! I have very fine hair and it's diffucult to get a good cut that I can actually make look good at home. I have used salons from the very expensive to great clips and it doesn't seem to make a difference for me.

I dont think the haircut is what makes me feel pretty, I prefer buying bridge jewelry! So since i have been home for going on 3 years i decided to start selling jewelry from premier designs and honestly, i feel much better about my appearance!
after you get a style on your hair, you have to keep up with styling and cutting it or it loses its style, with jewelry you just gotta make sure you put it on and you look different. Even a pair of earrings can do that!! Just my opinion.

I am really no into jewelry. GASP! Never really was :(
I have my wedding ring set, my yellow gold rope and crucifix along with diamond studs in my second holes. Occasionally I will wear earrings in my first holes. That is about it.

DH says I am difficult to buy for (present wise) as I never ask for jewelry.

My hair is super fine/thin too. I hate it! I've been going to the same lady for maybe 15 years now? She's switched salons once or twice and I followed her. She's in Crystal Lake and charges around $35 for a cut. If anyone wants the name PM me!
