For the past couple of days I've had the feeling there's been a lump in my throat. My throat feels very swollen and closed up, it's difficult to swallow. Not really sure if its something I've caught or if its stress or something? Anyone ever has this?

I have a lump in my throat.
But uh... that's an Adam's Apple.

Not too sure about what it might be. Perhaps schedule an appointment with your doctor (although it might be difficult, since it's the weekend). The only other advice would probably be to drink plenty of fluids.

Yeah I can't get enough liquids and ice cubes right now.
Ice cream and tea I crave too.

I have a doctors appointment in a weeks time, for this, dizziness when standing up and contraception lmao so much to visit the doctor for.

Well, hopefully it will be better by then. If not, then you should definitely tell him.
I think picking up some throat lozenges would also be beneficial.

It could be your throat is swollen as an allergic reaction to something?
Maybe something you ate, or something you've been exposed to? I dunno. Just a guess.
But I would recommend eating/drinking something cool for a while, in case it is swelling.

Perhaps you're dehydrated, I could ask things about the colour of your pee but I'd rather you just google the subject...

I can assure you my pee is clear :bigd:

I'm drinking much more than usual due to this. Waking up with a sore throat every morning.

i have that all the time. If i get a little cold during the night , i'll get that.

That's pretty much a standard sore throat.buy strepfen (idk if you have those in your country). they are pretty awesome for you throat.. Also, RIGHT BEFORE you go to bed warm you milk and put loads of honey in it. mix it all together.. The milk must be a little hotter so that it will take effect on your throat. use a straw so that you don't burn your tongue. make sure you put the straw as near as possible to the actual throat. You will swallow a lot after that but your throat will be better for a while

also, before you go to bed, put alcohol in loads of cotton and tie an old scarf to you neck with the wet cotton in the middle and close to your throat.. that will help the inflammation.

during the day, put honey in a cup and lemon juice in it. mix all together. drink. NEVER EVER drink cold stuff.... that's great for you metabolism and miserably bad for your throat. Warm even the water in a microwave. It sounds and it is very bad , i know, but it's for the best.

last, but not least, avoid being with your head under the sun , avoid drafts (idk if this is the correct word. i meant when for example you have 2 windows open. it creates wind. that. avoid that), avoid sudden changes of temperature.... what else? AH, avoid oral sex. it's not really good for your throat either.

over 'n out.
peace! xD

PS: i am tired, I probably have some mispelled words. I am sorry. Deal with it xD

PS2: diziness standing up it's a "normal thing"... means you have hypotension or low blood pressure (funny, i need google translate to translate simple words that i keep forgetting but medical terms, i know them all.... ahhh Dr. House i miss you.). It happens to me all the time. you need sugar under your tongue. it's good for those things.

Wow guys thanks so much for the help :P

I had tonsillitis earlier last year, oh **** it could have come back. Who knows. Good thing I'm off to the doctors :P

GUTTED :P

Lauren, I'm a Mom, so it's my nature to say things like this, and I mean no disrespect to the others who have offered suggestions.
This could be a number of things, from tonsillitis to swollen glands, to strep. None of us here are doctors, and guessing at things that may help without any of us having a clue what it really is could cause something worse to happen.
I'm a skeptic and very cautious, so seeing all these ideas for things that MAY help, but may also make things worse gives me pause. It's likely what the folks here have suggested won't do any harm, but just remember that until you do know what is wrong, use caution with "home remedies" please!
Good luck at the doctor and I hope you feel better right quick!

Thanks Smooth ^_^ my mom who's a similar age to you also suggested I don't try anything until I'm told to. I really appreciate that and I'll heed your advice ^_^ better safe than sorry!

You are very welcome, Lauren! I probably sound like a giant worrier, but, like I said, as a Mom, it's what I do. :D

Oh don't worry (haha) I worry a lot too :P I get it from my parents! I'm sure I'll be the same with my own kids and pass it on :P

This morning it's now soreness/difficulty swallowing. Whole week to wait for the doctors but I think ice cream and ice cubes will aid me until then :)

Thank you all!
