Well this is a big question can coding become a job of some kind i think yes, imagine you have daily customers you do website design for it can earn you quite alot and own a website like the techgame they make a fortune!.

Yes for many, but if it is not targeted correctly it fails and in return you will earn will less amount.

Sometimes it can but only a few people will be able to make a living out of it and not have to do another job. It would be quite difficult!

You'd have to have a sizable website, but given that you have millions of users, that could certainly be turned into enough advertisement revenue to earn a living. I think the main issue with this as a living is that it is an unstable form of income since websites always come and go, but for me I think I'd still take it given the opportunity. If it's something you'll enjoy and you make some money off of it, it's worth it all around.

It can but I would not want to do it for the rest of my life. Eventually I'd want to move onto something much bigger than just running websites. Running a website for the rest of my life would get me no where.

Of course it can become a living. Many people focus on ads, and even worse, on AdSense. This is usually a downfall. If you can find alternative sources of revenue that is strong, then it can surely be a proper company.

Most website's now a days have Google ad's + other ad's that people pay for to get up there. And yes it can become a living. Once you are good at it, Wouldn't you want to make money off of it? If you can make website's you can go on forums like this and make a thread and start selling. If you are into JavaScript or Java. You can help people with there code's (For Money or Free.) Or code something for people for money.

I'm hoping running a Youtube channel will become a living. It takes up my time, i enjoy doing it and i'm earning from it, sadly nowhere near enough for it to be a "living".

Generally websites of the normal person will not be enough to earn a living. There are billions of sites out there, and so the percentage of even reasonably successful sites is very low.

Think of this site, it will be actually VERY VERY high up the rankings, not these other site that just sit and take up space.

I know people who make a couple thousand a month via a network of sites that they run and they certainly live of the funds they get from it. I know certainly people who at the height of their schemes, made around $30K a month (Yes, per month) from their vast, huge network of sites.

Making a living of a website is feasible, just requires some determination and lots of learning!

It can, but it will be short-lived. You can't rely on the internet to make money 24/7. Eventually you'll be too old and will need to find real jobs. I just run a website because it's fun, and a place for my friends to hang out. I have no intention in staying there forever. I will probably most likely leave once my life becomes more serious ( college, relationships, job. )

I don't believe you can make a living from it unless it's really huge. The largest none corporate site I've seen is jcink.com and I believe he has a outside job besides running his site.

Maybe just one site won't work, if you have couple of them, there might be some good income from them. I know a friend who owns couple of forums and making $$$$.
