OK, I admittedly have *very* little experience with boys. (That is probably why I am not at the end of my rope here. :lol: ) New boy is 6.5yo. Emotionally I would say he is 4-5yo. He hasn't had any accidents, which is unusual for him, but he just CANNOT pee in the toilet.

Moms of boys, how did you combat this? I have been making him clean it up, but he doesn't mind cleaning up & I still have to do it again anyway because he's 6. :p

Tips & tricks? I'm thinking of going beyond having him wipe it up. Maybe he can clean the entire toilet, wipe up the floor and swiffer, too. Is that mean?

I honestly don't even know "how" he pees, other than he stands. I've never seen him pee....should I make sure he's "holding it?" :surrender: Where is my DH? :lol:
 
Is he doing it on purpose? Or just can't control it! They have those little targets you can use when Potty Training Boys. Maybe use those and help him improve his aim!
 
Lol boys do miss a lot. Yes, I would make sure he is holding it. You could also make a game of it and tear off some square of tp and take marker and make targets to float in toilet so he can aim at them. Tell him if he has trouble hitting it standing you're going to make him sit on it backwards....lol

Sorry, but I've got one of my own and he is 21. Seems to never end.

He might be motivated by M&M's, they haven't had any candy since they got here. :hides:

Yep def. use Cheerios and def. watch him to see where he's going wrong. I know it may seem weird, but you're his mom now. You also may need to make sure he's cleaning himself down there correctly. :9:

My DS10 only sits (yes even just to pee). Is that weird? I don't mind because he doesn't make a mess like his older brother. :hides:
 
MrsMom, we've been over (and over & over...and over again!) cleaning up properly "down there." Now if there's evidence in his underwear, I make him shower immediately. Just started that yesterday. He's a pain in my **** with this, and I am now a pain in his. :snicker: But we've been over this again & again! WTF?! He was NOT HAPPY that he had to take his "night time" shower last night after taking his "poopy pants" shower at noon. Can't wait to see those drawers today! :snort: Now I know why he came with like 30 pairs of underwear. Yay for me because I've been tossing the dirty ones. :hides:

Smallsaver, I was thinking today that I am so grateful he doesn't use MY bathroom. Poor DD14. She'll be getting a Starbucks treat after school today. She's putting up with WAY more than I thought. :lol: I am ready to call Porta John & send him outside! :giggles:
 
This reminds me, a couple weeks ago I went out shopping with my mom and sisters. I got a text from DH, DS potty training and pooped his pants. DH was swishing them in the toilet trying to clean them, and flush them down the toilet lol
 
If he is having accidents with poo and pee you might want to do some research. It is possible he has encropresis or constipation or any number of reasons why this is happening besides just behavior. One of my dd's had a problem because she held in her poo. Then she started having accidents because it was leaking out and she couldn't feel it. Sorry if its TMI but since he is "new to you" I think you should consider that this might not be something he can control. If you want more info feel free to PM. Good luck!

Thank you. There is a good chance this is what is happening with the poop. He hasn't had any pee accidents. He claims he doesn't want to take the time to go, which is why we're not taking the time to shower. ;) I'm going to keep an eye on it....this is not new behavior for him, his therapists is focusing on it more now, too. If he remembers to poop when he needs to, and he lets me know, we have a deal that he will get more Lego time. Today is Day 1. We'll see how it goes!

My husband does this... I just throw out the nasty underwear :giggles:
 
Dragonfly, my DD7 STILL has issues w/pooping! We have told her that she "NEEDS" to go poop every day and she won't....she also doesn't want to make time so now we "Make" her go every other day...Thankfully she will now go with prompting but it worries me that she will NEVER learn to go on her own...perhaps I need to make a chart and reward her if she learns to go on her own. I feel your frustration!
