I copied this from a friend:This is a post from a friend of a friends page, want to share so everyone can stay safe. I'm shaking just reading this...

Omg! I am panic stricken. My kids were almost kidnapped today!! My mom took them shopping and as she was getting out of her car ,she noticed 2 guys parked next to her talking very loudly to themselves and then to her. As soon as she got both kids out of car a lady came running ...up yelling at her that my mom needed to move her car, because this lady's keys were supposedly under it.as my mom was telling her that she would move the car, this lady picked up mason and said she would hold him,so my mom could help look for keys. Thank God my mom had death grip on my son and grabbed him back! My mom went to police station and they said it was a kidnapping attempt. They were all working together to distract her and than grab kids. Report filed and now a bulletin is going out about this. 5 cop cars went to the parking lot and to gather the tapes from parking lot camera. I am so shaken up and thankful that my mom was thinking and didn't let go of my kids hands. Those ****s better get caught

"It happened in the dollar tree parking lot in Bolingbrook on Rt 53... Be sure to pass this on. They were 3 jamicans, the 2 men were wearing tropical shirts and driving a gold Buick. Lady was also jamican driving —

I am not going to go as far as to say this story is untrue or embellished, but if it is true as written, the Bolingbrook PD has made no attempt to issue any bulletins. I have a >sports league< parent who is a BPD >higher rank than officer<, I emailed him.

Always, always very good to be aware of your surroundings, though, and train your children to stay with the adult they are supposed to be with.

Kathy I thought the same thing I usually hate to post an internet story without a snopes verification but I figured if I didn't post it it could do more harm than if I did. I did read the comments on the original fb post and the part at the bottom was an added comment by the girl it was supposed to have happened to. I know a lot of us rely on our parents and grandparents to care for our children and sometimes they are more gullible than we and need a reminder that the world is crazy. My MIL thinks it is crazy that I don't allow my dd6 & ds3 play outside by themselves, or let dd6 use a public bathroom alone or play at the park on the other side of the soccer field alone. Her ideas are MUCH different than mine regarding safety, she believes people are all good I however am less optimistic ;) Please post when you get info from the officer.

I will ask my girlfriend--her dh is the commissioner there.

true or not, i think any story that reminds us of the importance of safety and caution is good to share

Its a shame but you do. When dd was 2 & I was pg with ds we were leaving a restaurant when some guys called my husband from their truck and asked for money when he said he didn't have any the passenger said."you sure" While poking a gun out the window. Dh got back in the car and the guy said "its fake" & threw it out into the grass. I called the police and they went an verified it was fake but it was sooo scary. You feel sooooo much more vulnerable when pg our with my kids.

That's a scary thought!!! I hope it's not true. My hubby got our DD14 pepper spray we found at a garage sale, new in case, educating her on it and of course "it's not a toy!". My man has armed me to the teeth; in my purse I have a baton, pepper spray, and this cool little jabbing knife like thing he found that fits between your fingers (kind of like they tell you to hold your keys to jab).

My arsenal went up after a scary incident when I was out power walking. Course, if I have Trinity with, that's a bit of a deterrent, too bad we can't always have her with. There's no way someone would be able to get near the kids with her. I love knowing she's outside with the kids, because I too am one of those paranoid parents.

As others have said, this is at least a good reminder to be on guard.

I didn't hear anything back yet.

It's crazy what people do these days. I had to issue a family "bulletin" to my nephew (he drives) about this: In our area there are constant gas station "panhandlers." People approaching you to ask for money "just so they can get home to Sandwich/Plano/LaSalle, etc".

I had to give him a credit card to pay for his gas so he won't have to have any cash out at the local gas stations. I'm not worried about people hurting him (you should see his size) but he is so tenderhearted he would believe anyone's sob story and give them a couple bucks...

I remember my grandma having her purse stolen like 5 times when I was a kid (several times when I was with her). This distraction tactic is a common ploy. Back in the day she had her purse stolen 3 times at the Lewis Rd Jewel (is it still even there?) alone.

And the kids thought I was a lunatic but I made them hold my hand when we were at busy places well into their double-digit ages...

There was a guy walking around the Walgreens parking lot yesterday talking to himself, he volunteers information to me as I am walking to my car that he has lost a $500 gift card. I swiftly walked to my car and locked the door.

He might have been legit, but it seemed odd to me.

My first thought was that sounds like "I've lost my puppy, can you help me find it?" RUN! RUN!

I emailed my friend--she had not heard about this--and she has a young DD who I would think would get a note from school about it--anyway her DH is part of the police dept and one of her best friends is a 911 operator in bolingbrook.
