Merry Christmas CW!
Short background - my dad passed away almost 10 years ago, his dad died 11 years ago, and his mom outlived them and passed 4 years ago. My grandparents had 13 grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren (that were always treated the same), and 12 great-grandchildren. Today my mom went to the family party, but I couldn't go because DH's parents have their Christmas at the same time. So every year I have to pick. This year I did not pick my family.
My mom came home and said there is a present from your Aunt on the counter. I thought it would be candy or something. No. She sent my grandmothers wedding rings for me!!!!!! Grandma left them to her only daughter who only has boys. I am not sure if Grandma told her to give me the rings next or if my aunt picked me. I am not the oldest grandchild or even the oldest girl. It's a very tight-knit Irish family with drama here and there. When my other cousins find out that I have these rings they will be PISSED!!!!! When my grandma died she left specific instructions on who got what. I never figured I would see these rings because my older cousin shares her birthday with grandma and they were always so close. I lived farther away and only saw them a few times a year. I feel so guilty.
I do look the most like grandma and the rings were a perfect fit. So please help me feel like Cinderella and graciously handle this and be happy.....
